Mom and I agreed that today I would start considering the colleges that were wanting to accept me.
And going to colleges means you had to dress up, which was my least favorite thing in the world.
Lucas has been on my mind ever since I saw that SnapChat story. But today I was trying to stop thinking about him and start thinking about my future.
Mom made me pick out this weird flower dress that came to about my knees and white flats. She about stuck makeup on my face, but I swatted it away and pulled my hair up. This is as far as it gets dressing up for me.
I was taking my drivers test next week, so today was my final practice day as we headed to school. All the people from the colleges agreed to meet us, so we didn't have to go far.
As we arrived at my school, I put the car in park and hopped out of the car.
"I can't believe my little girl is growing up." My mom said sniffing.
"Don't start crying Mom." I said smiling. I saw the guys' vehicles in the parking lot, so I was guessing Coach Sherm made them have practice this morning. I walked through the doors and into the lobby.
"Where did they say they wanted to meet us?" I asked Mom.
"In the meeting room beside the Gymnasium." She said checking her phone. I took a breather before I began to walk down the hallway toward the gym.
"Well hello there Mrs. Parker." Coach said as he hugged Mom.
"Hello Sherm, how's your wife?" She asked carrying on the conversation.
I looked around the corner, walking away from them and seeing if I saw any of the guys.
I sure did see one of the guys, but it wasn't just any guy. It was Lucas.
It felt good that he was coming back to practice, but the thing that made me want to tear out my heart was he was making out with another girl.
I sighed and closed my eyes.
Why did I think I had a chance with him?
I signaled Mom that I was starting to walk to the meeting room. I walked past the double doors to the Gym and I knew the guys were staring at me.
Because one, they've probably seen me in a dress like once, and two their surprised I'm even up this early.
"Ella." I heard a familiar voice say but it was cut off by me walking faster to the meeting room.
Think about me, myself, and I.
"Ella, wait." I heard the voice say again. I felt a hand grab onto my arm and my only instinct was to push the body away from me.
"Lucas, stay away from me." I warned.
"Damn, what's your problem?" He asked as I saw him holding a ball.
"My problem?!" I asked eyeing him. "My problem is that you are a fucking liar and pathetic and reckless, think that by doing drugs and alcohol will make every problem go away? No honey, that's not how it works. So stay away from me or you will regret even looking at me." I said as Mom came up behind Lucas.
She sighed and looking down at the ground. I shook my head and began walking to the meeting room. But before I knew it, I still had something to say, "Was that even anything true? What you said at the hotel? Or is that just one of your methods to seduce a girls feelings?" I asked rolling my eyes.
"I'll meet you at the meeting room." Mom said as I heard her clacking of her heels.
"So everything is over, just like that?" I asked. "I've never in my life felt like that before and your throwing me away like I'm a piece of trash! I'm sorry I'm not like one of your slutty temporary girlfriends."
