Thunder rolls outside our bedroom window, in stormy Manhattan, early in the morning. I flip over and lay my head on Jimmy's chest. I can't stand thunder storms. When I was younger my grandparents got in a really bad accident during one. Ever since then I never liked them. Another round of thunder hits. A louder strike this time. It's right above our building.
"You okay?" Jimmy asks in his deep raspy morning voice and pats my back.
"Mhmm.." I tuck the comforter under my chin.
His warm soft hand slips under my tank top. "You cold?" He squeezes me.
"Kinda.." I scoot closer up to his head, really just for the comfort, I'm not cold. I hide my face in his neck as thunder cracks again.
"You're not a thunderstorm fan, huh?" I shake my head. "You're okay.." He kisses my forehead a few times before speaking. "I'm right here." He whispers while playing with my hair.
"I have bad memories with them.."
His scratchy chin rubs against my forehead. "That's fine." He's so tired.. I always feel bad for waking him, but I don't really wake him up. He can sense it. "Here.." He turns the TV up. "Should kinda help." He kisses me, he could all day if we had the time. So would I though.
"And you being here with me.." I trace circles on his warm skin.
"I always want to be here with you. No matter what it is."
"I love you, James." My lips touch his jawbone.
"I love you, Spencer." He pats my butt with the long roar outside.
I lay on my side, my head on his shoulder and arm over his chest. "You know what's dumb? I can be out in them, but once it comes to being inside, where I'm safer.. They scare me.."
"That is kinda dumb.. Do you wanna go out for breakfast then? My treat like always.." He smiles. He's one of those boyfriends that love to spoil their girl. I could be buying a soda and he'll push me out of the way to pay.
"No.. I'm fine with you here." I squeeze him. "You make me feel safe, honey."
"I'm glad I do, I always want to, baby." He kisses my forehead. "What time is it?"
I look over him, the bright clock that neither of us use for an alarm, says 8:37 am in neon green. "Almost 8:40.."
Brown beauties open, looking out the window to the side of our bed. "It looks 6.. Mmm!" Jimmy grumbles and rolls over, laying on his side to match my body. "Cuddle me.." He whines.
"Baby, I am!" I laugh. "You're been awfully whiney lately.. Are you getting sick?"
"No.. I just want you.. So do my parents.. We're having dinner there tonight, I forgot to tell you the other day." My forehead is kissed.
"I love dinners with your parents." I smile at the closed eye cutie.
He giggles. "I heard that, Ms. Dimples." He pokes his finger in one. "You're so cute, babe. The cutest girl I know."
"You're the cutest boy I know."
"I should be." He giggles again. "How'd you sleep? Being back home from a few days away and all.."
"Amazing! But every time I fall asleep with you is a good night, babe."
He smiles. "Well, every night I fall asleep with you in my arms is a good night."
"I don't know how I got so lucky with such an incredible man." I kiss the tip of a nose.
"I ask myself everyday how I got so lucky with such an incredible girl." I smile and nuzzle my head in the pillow we're sharing. "Also, what do you want for breakfast? I'm getting hungry.."
