We're gonna start pickin up pace again!

"Mom?" I ask confused once I open the front door. "What's up?"

"Dads working late and I was on my way home from shopping.. Thought I'd come say hello to my favorite girl." She smiles at me. A real smile this time. Ever since that one night, at dinner, we've been close again.

I check the time, I don't know why though, Jimmy wouldn't care if moms here. "Stay until you have to go, mama." I grab her hand, bringing her in our apartment.

"This is a nice place." She smiles at the high ceilings, massive TV on the wall, window sill full of house plants, gourmet kitchen, dark wooden floors. "He had to pay serious bucks for this bad guy. He definitely has good taste." She buttons the top three buttons on one of Jimmy's flannels I'm wearing. "I don't care to see your girls.."

"Sorry.." I button the bottoms ones. "Are you hungry?"

"I'm not, baby, but thank you. Where's Jimmy?" Gary runs out to us.

I hold her paws that are at my back. "Work dinner, I didn't want to go. Thought I'd catch up on some shows and keep Gar company." She run back to the couch, jumping on the blanket we were sharing. I pull mom with me to the couch. "Come watch something with us." I lay the blanket over our laps, Gary cuddles up to my hip.

"I love you, Penners." Mom places her arm around my shoulders, kissing my temple. "I'm glad to see us back to normal again. I'm going to shut up before something gets said." She kisses my temple again.

I turn to face her. "Mom, you're fine. Don't worry about it." I lay my head on her shoulder. "Have I ever told you when I was younger, when I'd come home sick from school and you weren't home, I'd take a towel or one of your shirts and spray your perfume on it.."

"No.. You've never told me that, babe, how come?"

"Despite being a daddy's girl and always wanting dads comfort.. You always made me feel better, your perfume would help me sleep."

I hear her smile above. "I love that, baby.. Is that why the first day of school was always so hard for you to let me go? The first three years of school, you'd cry until the bell rang. Your teachers would call during recess and tell me."

"Yeah.. I didn't want to be away from you. Dad was harder.."

"Oh I know.. You screamed your head off the first day of preschool for him. I took you home, and you never went back until kindergarten. Lucky for us, you simmered down."

"Which is funny because I like being alone now."

She chuckles. "I know, baby.. That's why we let you be. Does boyfriend do the same?"

"He can sense it, so yeah. He goes into his office or an opposite room. I'm sure it bugs him.."

"Has he said anything about it?"

"No, not that I remember." I hold my legs to my chest.

"I'm sure he's fine then. He seems like a very open person. I would assume he'd tell you his feelings about it."

I smile at the TV, a Tonight Show preview just aired. "I would think so too and he is pretty open. He's cute, mama."

"He is cute, I'm glad you two found each other. He just texted you." My phone gets passed over.

'Heading home :)'

'Yay! Moms here, dads working late.'

'Perfectly fine :) I'll grab some wine at the corner.'
