Ch.17: Invasion of Konoha

Serena's POV

The Leaf Village was under attack. Great.. this is just bloody great. I groaned in annoyance.

"Alright Serena, I want you to take Naruto, Sakura, and Shikamaru and follow Sasuke and Gaara. This is an A-rank mission and you are in charge." Kakashi informed me. I nodded and we all chased Sasuke.

Sand ninjas were coming behind us quickly. "One of us needs to stay behind to distract the ninjas." I said. "I'll go." Shika said. "It will be a drag, but I guess it has to be done."

I nodded. "Thank you Shika. We'll see you when we get back." He stayed behind. We kept running towards their Chakra signatures.

I saw Kankuro up ahead. He tired to block us from going on any farther. Shino appeared and occupied him, while we kept going.

We reached the clearing where Gaara and Temari were against Sasuke. Before she could land a hit on Sasuke, I flashed over and kicked her into a tree. I looked back at Sasuke and nodded.

I will handle Temari. I glared at her. "What do you think you're doing attacking Temari!?" I screamed. "I have no choice! We have orders from above!!" She yelled back.

"DID YOU KNOW THAT YOUR KAZEKAGE HAS BEEN DEAD FOR A WEEK??" I yelled out. She stopped in her tracks and looked at me wide eyed. "N-no impossible! He can't be dead! If he is then who was at the arena?" I groaned "THAT WAS OROCHIMARU IN DISGUISE!" I yelled.

I was beyond frustrated. There Gramps was battling that Snake, the jounins and Dad were taking care of the summonings and the sand ninja, and here we are taking care of the two idiot siblings. What has life come to...?

"Temari. We need to stop Gaara." I tried to reason. But she was too afraid. I looked back at Sasuke panting in exhaustion. Naruto came out and started fighting Gaara head on.

Half of Gaara's face and hand was the tailed beast. But his insanity was slowly spreading. Gaara's paw was going to hit Sasuke and Naruto. I stared wide eyed.

I quickly jumped between them and took the hit. I was smashed into a couple of trees. I was still exhausted from my fight earlier with Kakashi. I groaned in pain as I was laying down. I shakily stood up and wiped the blood of my face.

I trotted over to Naruto. He had accidently summoned Gamakichi. "Naruto." I called out. He looked at me. "I will help you with the summoning. I only have enough Chakra for that right now. You handle it afterwards. Kay?" I whispered to him tiredly.

"No No Serena! I'll do it! You've already been hit and are bloody head to toe!" I shook my head. I created a series of hand signs and smacked my palm on the ground.

"Summoning Jutsu!" I yelled out with the last bit of strength. POOF!! A huge pile of smoke appeared in the big clearing. As it cleared, Gamabunta came out.

I lay down next to Sasuke too exhausted to move anymore. I was breathing heavily. I felt my first inner chakra gate open. Chakra rapidly spread inside my body rebooting me. book 1! I slowly sat up and brought Sasuke's head on my lap.

I moved hair out of his face. I put one hand on his forehead and the other on his stomach. My hands started glowing green as I sent my chakra into his body. He groaned and blinked his eyes open.

"S-Serena?" I smiled and nodded. I helped him stand up. "Go. Help Naruto, I'll get Sakura." I told him. He nodded and disappeared. I jumped down from the tree and knelt by her. I started healing her. She finally woke up and we walked towards the others.

I saw Gaara standing in the middle between Temari and Kankuro, exhausted. But he had changed. Sasuke was holding Naruto up right. I walked over to Gaara and smacked him across the face. His head turned towards the right and he looked at me wide eyed.
