The four boys later told me that they think it's hilarious, what I did to the blond boy-who I found out his name was Alden.
I was watching a couple boys work on my truck when Alden came bounding down the porch steps. The boys by my truck started snickering and smiling when he came over to me.
"Hey, you jerk," he said grinning, "You're a real asshole, you know that?"
"Thanks, Babe," I said, bumping his thigh with my hip in a joking matter. "I like to joke with people, so don't take it too ha-"
"Don't say that wor-!" the two boys yelled, running over to stop me from completing my sentence.
"Ah, so you're a pranker?" Alden asked me. I ignored the boys that were trying to push me away from him.
"Oh yeah! I love to!" I looked over at the black haired boy bouncing in front of me, trying to lead me away. "What the hell is your problems?"
"Don't start this kind of conversation with him," he whispered urgently as I let them pull me away. "Pierce and him got in a prank war and it didn't end well."
"What happened?" I asked.
"He took it a little too far and shaved Pierce's head, which led to a fight, which led to a broken arm."
"Whose arm?"
"Does it matter?!" the other boy hissed at me, "Just, if you like your hair where it is, don't talk about pranks around him."
"Who's Pierce, again?" I asked.
"Uh, nerd, brown hair, really polite, helped push your truck here?"
"Oh,"
They continued to work on the truck once Alden went inside. Slowly, after a while, I edged my way inside the cabin. I found him watching TV on the couch.
"Hey, so what about that pranking thing?" I asked sitting down next to him. His attention was immediately drawn to me.
"What about it?" he asked, clearly wanting to tell me everything.
"What kind of pranks did you pull?"
"Well you probably know about my shaving his head, " he pointed out. "I'd scare him and do real amateur stuff since he has no experience."
"And you do?"
"Yeah, I used to play pranks on my aunt all the time before I moved in here."
"Why'd you come here? What happened to your aunt?" I was suddenly very interested in his past.
"Well, let's just say I fit in here." he grinned and shrugged. "And my aunt died. Heart attack." My eyebrows knit together in confusion. He seemed to be talking about it really casually for his aunts' death. He noticed my confusion and added, "We weren't that close." I blinked a couple times and walked away from him, grabbed a soda from the kitchen, and walked upstairs to the guest room that the guys were letting me stay in til my truck was fixed. I know, I know, I was an idiot, willing to stay in a cabin in the middle of the woods with five other guys. I agree, but it was only til they fixed the truck. They acted like I had been staying there for years, rather than a couple hours.
I walked into my room and grabbed my sketch pad, starting to draw a girl in a gown. I started sketching her short hair when I got bored. I turned on my IPod and thought of a plan.
Okay, I thought. I'm definitely going to prank Alden, but I might need some help. Someone that would know his weaknesses. . .
My eyes drifted to the open door in the hall. I got up and quietly crossed to it.
"Hellooo?" I sang knocking lightly on the doorway. "Any one in here?" I had already seen the boy with brown hair reading a novel on the blue bed.
"Yes?" he asked not looking up from the book.
"Are you Pierce?"
He looked up at me and raised an eyebrow. "Yes. What do you need?"
"I just wanna ask some questions about. . . someone," I walked so I was standing at the foot on his bed. He sat up and laced his fingers together. "What do you know about Alden?"
"He's a douchebag. Don't go near him and do not get in a pranking war with him."
"And why's that? Because he shaved you head? Aren't you angry at him?" I started to try and be persuasive.
"Well yeah! Then he broke my arm!"
"Oh, so it was you." I muttered, then changed the subject back to pranking. "Don't you want to get back at him? Teach him a lesson?"
"I guess."
I sat down in front of him. "I can help you get your revenge. I also am a pranker, and probably a better one than him, since I just got kicked out of my old school."
"What kind of revenge?" he asked skeptically.
I smiled. "The sweet kind."
