That night after I knew Ashton was asleep, I untwined myself from him.
"Mmm. Omen?" he muttered groggily.
"Shh, go back to sleep." I whispered.
"Come back to bed." he said.
"I will. I got to use the bathroom first."
He nodded sleepily. I felt bad. I didn't want to lie to him, but I didn't want him to worry. Honestly, I wasn't going to the bathroom. I wanted to think about the whole thing about me most likely being able to turn into a werewolf. I didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.
I quickly went into my room and grabbed a jacket. It made me look weird, considering I was wearing shorts. I then walked outside and started towards the running track.
I didn't think. I didn't know what I was doing. I had taken off my jacket and threw it on the grass. Cold air nipped at my bare arms and legs. I didn't know why I did the next part, but for some reason, I started to run on the track. I was never the type who would run for fun, but I had a strange urge. I felt my legs start to push off against the ground harder, making me move faster. I pumped my arms along side my body. Oddly, my breathing didn't change. My hair flew out behind me, and cold air smacked against my face.
It was such a rush!
I felt a smile grow on my face as I increased in speed. I saw the faint glimpse of my jacket as I zoomed past it. Really? I passed it already? This track was huge and I had only been running for maybe ten seconds. I should only be halfway through the track!
Cool.
I ran around the track a couple of times. Eventually, I stopped. I was panting a little, but not much. I grabbed my jacket, realizing how freezing I was. I sat down on the cemente.
I've always been afraid of werewolves my whole life. Now to find out that I could be one? What does that mean? Will I be afraid of myself? How does someone actually turn into a werewolf? I'd have to ask someone in the morning.
Maybe this would be a good thing. It would be a bit harder for people to kill me...
Which brought me to my other thought. I had thought of it after Ashton had gone to sleep, and it had bugged me ever since.
My pack was just using me.
I don't know how I hadn't realized it when they had told me the whole "prophecy" thing, but it had dawned on me. They only wanted to use me so they could be humans again. They don't care about me. They only care about me not dying for their own reasons.
Then again, I can't turn them human if I'm mated. I've already found my mate. My pack didn't seem to be trying to split us up. They seemed to be really supportive of us, actually.
I was sitting on the ground, head rested on my arms that were on my knees. I sighed. I just had to trust them. I had to trust my pack, and I had to trust my mate. I froze when I heard a deep growling to the left of me. I lifted my head slowly and was literally petfrified with fear when I saw a wolf.
This wolf was huge. He had black fur, but I could see it's piercing yellow eyes even in the deep dark. He pulled back his lips, snarling at me.
I stood up, which seemed to surprise it a little, but I didn't care. I was pissed. I had dealt with a lot of stress and other shit for my entire life, and I wasn't going to have some stupid dog hurt me even more than already have been! As my anger grew, I felt my body start to move strangely. I didn't really know what was happening. I started to hunch forward uptil I was on all fours. I didn't know why, though. Everything I looked at was black and white, but incredibly clear. The wolf was much bigger than a horse. If I was to stick my arm in the air, the top of it's head would reach the top of my finger tips.
