"Let's start with the gardeners." Alby suggested happily. "I think you will be great in there." I nod my head and follow him to where Newt was standing. I didn't know he worked here. Newt looked up at me and smiled slightly. "Hey, Bree! Is Alby starting you off here?" He sounded very excited. A little too excited if you ask me. I look at Alby and he nods. "Guess so! Where do we start?" I ask jumpily. I'm really excited about all of this stuff to do.
"Well, first of all, you are working with me today. You have to stay by my side and do what I tell you to do. If you don't, then something could happen to the gardens and cause problems for our vegetables, and we need them to eat. Gardening is more serious than you think, but you only have an hour to try this out so come on!" Newt demanded, but how he said it wasn't harsh at all. In fact, it sounded more like a sweet way to tell someone to do their chores on a daily basis. I don't think Newt could sound stern to anyone. He is way too nice. Newt began to walk towards the tomatoes and cucumbers, so I follow him. After all, he did tell me to stay by his side. As we walk, I begin to wonder why I only have one hour with the gardeners. So, I decide to ask Newt. "Hey, Newt. Why did you say I only have one hour with you and then I move on?" I think I'm starting to get on people's nerves a little bit. "Well, you have an hour at every job. It's just to make things go faster so we don't spend alot of days trying to find your place in the Glade. " Newt said as he handed me a bag of tomato seeds. He walked me to a place in the back. "Ok, here is where you are going to plant the seeds. I will walk you through it the first few times and then you will do the rest of the row by yourself. Good that?" he told me. He seems to have a lot of faith in me, but I like it. Newt walked me through the process of planting the seeds and I did it right both times he showed me, but when he told me to do it on my own I messed up. You would think that planting the seeds would be easy, but it wasn't. They came up with a whole different process of doing it so the roots grow really strong and firm. It took me almost the whole hour just to plant fifteen seeds right! I'm not sure that gardening will be my place in the Glade.
