One more day. One more freaking day. Nathan's 30 days went by too fast. He wanted more time. Another 30 days at least. But he couldn't do anything about it. Nathan was going to lose his mind, his freedom, everything! And it was all because of the leader Dubleka and his powers.
"I really can't believe that today is the last day," Emma sighed. It was Saturday, and she wanted to spend Nathan's last day with him. They were at the park, sitting on a hill.
"Me neither," Nathan agreed. "This is it. I have to use all my knowledge about lucid dreaming to save the world... somehow. I kind of doubt I'll pull this through."
"No, I know you're going to win," Emma persuaded. "You have been practicing, and you seem to have mastered it. We're going to be fine."
"I hope that's the case," Nathan wished. "But, honestly, I'm so scared. Every night, I feel like I'm suffocating. In my dreams, I am constantly engulfed in the flames of my nightmares. And all day I'm constantly devastated, thinking about those nightmares. The worst part is... I know this battle will be a fight to stay alive, and... those nightmare are all about ways I could die from the Dubleka. I just don't know, Emma. I just don't know."
"Aww... Nathan," Emma sighed. She hugged him. He lightly hugged her back. "You are going to be ok. I know you will."
"Well... I don't know," Nathan admitted. "I'm scared. I don't think I will win. The Dubleka will either take over me and kill everything, or I'll die in the process of defeating him." Emma didn't say anything; she simply buried her head into Nathan's chest. Nathan stroked her hair softly.
"You're not going to die," Emma whispered. "I bet you all the stars in the galaxy that you are going to be ok."
"Let's hope that I'll be ok," Nathan sighed. "Because I don't want to suffocate in these nightmares anymore." There was a long silence. "Plus, that's a lot of stars you just bet on. If you lose, there'll be no more stars to light up the world." Emma giggled softly. Nathan smiled. That was what he was going to miss the most: her laugh.
That night, Nathan was resting in his bed. Surprisingly, there was no nightmare. His mind was empty with darkness. But then a white canvas was created, and Nathan was plotted in the middle of it. Then in front of him appeared... the leader Dubleka.
"Hmm... it's been 30 days Nathan," the leader Dubleka laughed. Nathan frowned. "I've been watching over you for the past month, and... let me just say... if you think you can get rid of me because of 'lucid dreaming' you're stupid."
"What do you want with me?!" Nathan yelled.
"To use you," the leader Dubleka said with his typical, evil smirk. He started to merge into Nathan as he screamed in pain and fear. All he could do was stand and take the horror. The leader Dubleka was using Mind Control. He was slowly losing his freedom and his mind. His last thought was, "I hope my friends and family are ready."
When Nathan woke up, he stared straight at the ceiling. He knew the leader Dubleka had taken him over. He had let the leader Dubleka take him over. He was inside of him right now, beginning his diabolical plans. The world was doomed.
"I need to go and warn everyone," Nathan thought. "They have to do something before it's too late."
"Better yet, let's kill them instead," a thought in Nathan's mind whispered. Nathan's eyes widened.
"The leader Dubleka is taking over my thoughts, and soon he'll take over my actions too!" Nathan thought. "I have to warn someone before--"
Nathan's eyes flashed a dark shade of red as he evilly grinned.
