I walked in the building. I took a deep breath. Try not to screw up. I thought. Don't make a fool of yourself on the first day here.
Mr. Karkaroff guided me to my first class. I glanced around. What a cool place. It smelled so fresh, and looked so old. "So, first female, eh?" Karkaroff asked. "Yeah. It was more my parents idea than mine." I explained. "I see." He said. "Well, I do hope you enjoy your time at Durmstrang." He said as we stopped in front of the classroom door. He turned and left.
I opened the door. There were only boys in the room. I kind of expected that though. I sat down in the back row. I set my things down and looked around me. Almost everyone was staring. I doubt they were used to girls as classmates.
After a boring first class of History Of Magic, (what a coincidence! It was boring at Hogwarts too!) one of the boys came up to me.
"I am Viktor Krum." He tells me. "It is very nice to meet you." I looked at him for a second. His name sounded very familiar. I stared a little more before saying, "And I'm Rose Heder. Nice to meet you too."
He asks me what my next class is. "I think it's potions." I tell him. "Oh! What a coincidence! I have potions next as well." He says. I do an excited yelp in my mind. I already have a friend at Durmstrang!
As we are walking down the hall to our next class, It clicked. I know where his face is from! He's Viktor Krum! The Bulgarian seeker!
"You're seeker!" I shout. Everyone in the hall turns to look at me. I blush a little before Viktor turns back to me.
"Ah. So you do know." He says. "Of course I know you are the best quidditch player EVER!!" I said
"Thanks." He blushes. "I try my best."
I am so excited words can not express how I feel. My first friend is the best quidditch player in history! I scream in my head over and over again.
We walk into potions and sit down next to each other. Once again, I find others staring right at me. But this time, I think it's because they just saw me talking to Viktor Krum. THE Viktor Krum.
After Potions, I know he has Quidditch practice, but I have stinkin' charms. I never liked charms. Anyway, we say goodbye and I start down the hall. I only made it about 10 feet outside the classroom before I get slammed against the wall by someone.
"New kid, huh?" He says. I turn and look at his face for the first time. He's blond, has a buzz cut, and has at least five scars across his face. "What do you think you're doing prancing around with that dreamy look in your eye?" He yells at me. "Just because you're female doesn't mean you won't get hurt, and you won't have immediate popularity rights. Now get out of my sight." He shoves me on the ground and snickers. He turns and runs down the hall.
I get up and realize my nose is bleeding. I find my way to the restroom. Since I'm the only girl, I get it all to myself.
I peer into the mirror and look at myself. I was only 11, and that guy looked around 17. Did I really deserve to be treated like this? This question kept floating through my mind as I went through the rest of the day.
Viktor kept asking what happened but I never replied. I went straight to my bed when the day was over.
I buried my face into my pillow and cried. My first day, other than making a friend, was an epic fail.
