The Day

The next day I woke up, and was in some sort of mood. I felt like today was going to be much better. I opened the window next to my bed and saw it was bright and sunny. I took a deep breath. I didn't think today would be better, I knew today would be better.

I packed my things and was off. I found a concerned Viktor waiting for me just outside of History Of Magic (our first period). I remembered that I hadn't yet told him what happened yesterday.

I explained and he just sighed. "I know who you are talking about." He whispers. "That was Mike Cherona." He tells me. "He is such a jerk. You should stay away from him."

Yeah, no kidding. I thought. A guy like that doesn't even deserve to be a Durmstrang.

After History Of Magic, we went to Potions. It was really boring. Except, at the end, the Professor told us whoever turned in their homework first, would get a bottle of invisibility potion. Just enough to last an hour.

I didn't know what I would use it for, but nonetheless, I was determined to obtain it.

After all my classes, I went straight to my room. I sat at the desk that stood beside my bed. I turned on the lamp and got straight to work.

About an hour later, I skipped down to the Potions classroom with a big smile on my face. I knew most would wait until tomorrow to turn it in, so I suspected I could get it. I pushed open the door, and saw a student already at the professor's desk. I stood behind him, waiting my turn. Then I realized that he was a first year as well, and was just turning in his homework. He turned to leave just as I heard the professor saying he would give him the potion tomorrow.

I was too late. I handed in my homework anyway. I pivoted and walked away.

Oh, well. I told myself, trying to shake it off. Maybe next time.

I wake up, and take a deep breath. Today's another day. I think. Lets get going.

I grab all my stuff, and head to History Of Magic. The first thing I notice is half the students are missing. Including Viktor. That's weird. I  don't have time to think of it any more, because the professor clears his throat and tells us to listen up.

"As some of you may have noticed, a few students are missing today." He begins. "I do not want you to worry." He continues. "Everything will be alright." "Will be?" I pipe up. "What do you mean will be?" The professor glares at me for a moment before replying, "You need not know what, only know what I have said." "Well, you're a big help." I mumble. A few students around me chuckle.

History Of Magic ends, and I start my way down the hall. I notice it's a lot less crowded  than usual. I keep wondering about what the professor had said, and before I know it, I'm in Potions. Again, half the students are missing. Including the one who turned his homework in yesterday.

The professor walks to the front of the room. "First things first. The student who wins the bottle of invisibility potion... Rose Heder!" He shouts. I am confused as I walk to the front of the room.

"But sir, wasn't it someone else that turned their homework in before me?" I ask. "Yes, yes. That is true." He tells me. "So shouldn't that mean... HE gets the potion?" I ask again. "Oh yes, originally, he would have." He replies, handing me the purple liquid. This confuses me. "Originally?" I say. "Well, it appears he is not here today, and you were the second to turn it in, so it's yours."

This I don't question any further. The only thing I still question, is where the other half of the students are.

Author's note: The name of the bully, Mike Cherona, was inspired by a song I was listening to with my friend. Look her account up, it's emilyirlanda . I'm telling you, she makes good books.
