My eyes flutter open, unsure and hesitant. Where am I?
"Oh my god! She's awake! A female shrieks, and I hear a thud, and a male voice shout, "NURSE!"
Seconds later, two women in scrubs are helping me sit up frantically.
"How many fingers am I holding up?"
"What year is it?"
"What's your birth date?"
"What's your name?"
"I-I can't remember. I-I'm so confused."
"Okay, sweetie. What's your name? One question at a time."
I search my mind for the simple word, but I can't seem to find it.
"Juliet." The word slips out of my mouth unconsciously. A voice says, "that's her middle name!"
"Birthday?"
"What's June 20th?"
"Year?"
"2016."
"What is the last thing you remember?" I think, but draw a blank.
"Waking up." A nurse sighs. She turns to look at the two people, most likely a couple, with a grim look on her face.
"Well, there was a bit of damage towards her brain, and since she remembers most, the chances of her remembering the events in her life, is close to zero. I wouldn't force her to try and remember anything. If she remembers, it'll be on her own." They nod, and the girl with shoulder length brown hair.
I look at the girl. "Who are you?"
She smiles sadly. "I'm practically your sister. You knew me as Dakota, but I go by Angie now." I study her face, noticing that there is a sense of familiarity when I see her, almost like a comfort. I look at the boy, to see him already staring at me. I can't help but find him seriously hot. Like, man, is he an angel?
"And you?" I ask shyly, looking at the man, but not at his face. When I do look at his eyes, my stomach jumps.
"I'm Andy Biersack, lead singer of Black Veil Brides, and your Boyfriend." So the two aren't a couple. Huh. Maybe that's why I feel the butterflies. He suddenly smirks. "Well that's a good sign I guess. Does that mean I still have a chance?" I blush, realizing I'd said that out loud.
"Sure," I say. He laughs. Then I suddenly have a question.
"So what was my full name?"
"Bladen Juliet A--"
"Simms! That was your Mom's maiden name. Your Dad was an awful man."
"Well, if it's okay, I'm going to go by Juliet, because it's the start of a new life."
"BLADE!" A female voice cries, and she's carrying two babies in her arms. "It's me! Kristen!"
"She doesn't remember anything, and she goes by Juliet now," Angie states in monotone. Kristen stares at me with tears in her eyes, making me slightly uncomfortable.
But when I shift, I feel something cold under the gown the hospital put on me, and I find that they're dog tags.
"Who's Jada Anders?" I ask, and the girl, Kristan, swallows.
"He was your brother. I was his fiancé. These are his kids, Elijah Mason Anders and Natalie May Anders, they're named after the people closest to you who you lost. Well, except for Nat's middle name." I stare at the babies. The boy, Elijah, has sandy blonde hair that flops in his eyes, big bright green eyes, twin to his mother's. The girl, Natalie, has curly ink black-brown hair, and the prettiest hazel eyes. Eyes that look so familiar.
"Who're they named after, exactly?" I question.
"Elijah was the name of Da-Angie's twin brother, who was close enough to be yours too. Mason was your blood twin. You guys had a bad fall out, but we're fixing it when your Dad shot Mason, your Mom, Natalie, and Elijah was killed saving you from a bullet."
I frown and say, "where is my dad now?"
"In prison. Probably never going to be aloud out either. Jada was training to be a doctor, but joined the Army. He died in combat."
"Can you tell me everyone who died that was close to me?"
"Well, there was your brothers: Mason, your twin, Elijah, and your older brother, Jada. Then there was your mother, Natalie. Basically the people I told you about," I point at the children. "How old?"
"They're two months old. You were in an accident the day they were born, the day we found out Jada died. You've been in a coma since." I instantly feel bad. Tears fill my eyes, and I sniffle.
"Hey," Andy says, taking my hand, and pecking my forehead. I flush. "It's okay. A new start, right?"
I grin weakly, wiping the tears from my cheeks before putting my free hand on top of his. "Right."
"Juliet Simms," he muses, and smiles at me. "I like the sound of that."*. *. *. *. *
The guitar starts, and I smile, finishing my ponytail and putting my hands on the microphone. The crowd cheers, but quiets down to hear my voice. According to Kristen, I used to be self conscious about my voice, and I had turned to dance. Funny how I gave up the thing I had hidden under and faced that fear.
"Back when we first kissed, it felt like every star above are heads alined," I sing smoothly into my microphone, sending the crowd into a frenzy. "Every little piece fell into place and
every single moment made us feel alive.
Never used to be so complicated," I pause, staring at the dance crew I used to be apart of. They came to my first Warped Tour venue, flying all the way to San Antonio, Texas.
"No in between, just black and white.
When everything turns to grey, I still see you,
when the cold won't go away, I can still feel you!
Even when the sky is falling, and I'm hanging on by a thread,
I'm standing on the edge of nothing,
but I know it's not broken yet, I know it's not broken yet." Singing the song, I watch as people look at their loved ones, and people's eyes fill with tears. Suddenly, I hear a voice join me.
"As time grows on we still discover
traces of hope in each other." By now, Andy has made his way towards me, holding the microphone in one hand while holding his arm out to me with the other. Once I'm in arm's reach, his arm wraps around my waist.
"With every ending,
We can find a beginning
Starting over again."
"When everything turns to grey, I still see you.
When the cold won't go away, I can still feel you," I sing.
"Even when the sky is falling," Andy breaths.
"And I'm hanging on by a thread."
"I'm standing on the edge of nothing," we start together.
"But I know it's not broken yet, I know it's not broken yet."
At the end of the song, Andy scoops me up bridal style, as kisses me hard in front of the crowd, who goes wild. Angie, who took up my last name when her mom died, is standing next to Logan, who has now kind of become another brother to me. Angie's Mom, in her will, gave her parental abilities to my mother. Sadly, she'd died before she could take Angie in. But, Angie is still legally my sister, and has the last name 'Simms' like me.
From what they've told me, my life went upside down in one year. I'd ran away from home, and many people on my life died.
But now, I can't imagine my life any differently. Im filled with so many good things, like Andy, Angie, Kristen, her kids, Ashley, Jinxx, Jake, CC, the list goes on. I've overcome the obstacles, and now I'm home again.

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS:1: Juliet never gets her memories back
2: She stays with Andy
3: Angie is her adoptive sister in this story
4: Juliet gives up dancing, and is a singer from then on.
5: I tried to, as best as I could, make it to real life.
6: I AM BY NO MEANS SAYING HER PARENTS ARE EVIL! I've just never read a story that ends this way, with Juliet and Andy ending up together. They always either portray her as evil, or so kind that she gives up Andy. I didn't want to go either path, so I created my own.
7: if you are unhappy with the ending, I am contemplating a second book where it takes place back into one of the chapters and Blade, or Juliet in THIS book, makes a different choice.
8: WARNING: in the next book, the characters that were introduced may have bigger roles in the story than the characters that had the bigger roles in this book. Only in the beginning will it roughly sound like this story.
Anyway...
