I opened my eyes sleepily, aware that there was someone watching me. I could vaguely see four figures standing around me. I opened my eyes fully and could see that it was Aria, Anna, Lee, Jason, Amy, Lily and Carmen. They were all laughing and Lee had a camera. Where was Ben though? I went to get up from where I was lying and then it suddenly dawned on me why they were all laughing at me...or should I say us? I had obviously fallen asleep last night and Ben evidently hadn’t woken up he was still lying against me when I had got to get up. He woke up dazed in the same way I had been. I looked over at Lee, and frowned at trying my best to look annoyed.
But to my annoyance he just laughed and said “This is so ending up on Facebook!”
“No it’s not!” we both said trying to grab the camera off him but failing to do so and instead banging heads. We both put our hands to our heads where we had collided and said “Ouch!”.
“See you’re so much alike, you even respond the same!”
“No we don’t!” we said in unison. We looked at each other. He had a point but the thing was I couldn’t really do much because it was what I would have done if it had been me. In fact I always took pleasure in taking the Mick out of Aria when something like this happened to her. It was the one area where she usually wasn’t able to get me back but that had now changed. I got up from where I had been lying. My body ached; I must have been sleeping in a weird angle. I looked over to the coffee table, noticing that there were several plates with pizza crusts on them.
“You ate without me?” I asked the gang, with sad puppy dog eyes.
“Well you and Ben looked so cosy it was a shame to wake you so we left you sleeping like a babies!” said Anna with a sickly grin.
Aria pushed passed me and grabbed her hand bag off the floor and said “Don’t worry they ate without me too!”
“Well you were flat out as well Aria! It was a job to eat my pizza because you were lying on my right arm and I didn’t want to wake you up so I ate with my left hand.” said Lee.
I walked past everyone, heading towards the fridge to grab something to eat. My stomach rumbled at the thought of food, I was hungry after not eating last night. I opened the fridge to see that all the bacon had gone.
“Where’s the bacon?” I asked disappointedly.
“We ate it because you lot weren’t up and we were hungry. It’s two o’clock, what did you think we were going to do?” Jason replied.
“Oh thanks guys! Now what are we going to eat?” I asked fearing for my stomach.
“Well if you hurry up and get ready then we can go get something down in town and then eat it on the beach.” Said Anna packing a towel into a beach bag.
I walked past her and went into the bedroom and rummaged through my bag trying to find something suitable to wear to the beach. I hadn’t really packed to go to the beach because usually when we came up here it rained. No rephrase that, whenever Aria came up here it rained. Anna and I used to joke that she was our bad luck charm and it was her fault that it always rained.
I managed to find my denim shorts and a purple vest top. I pulled them on and ran into the bathroom to quickly brush my teeth and then I tied my hair up into a ponytail and went back into the bedroom to grab my bag and towel I pushed the rolled up towel into the bag and took out my black sunglasses, putting them on. I returned to the kitchen where everyone was waiting for me. We all went out through the door and I locked it whilst everyone else got in.
I saw that Aria was already in the car so therefore had almost certainly walked herself.
“How’s the foot today Aria?” I said getting in the car closing the door and pulling my bag on to my lap.
“Yeah it’s much better today thanks! The swellings gone down and I can get my shoe on.” She said smiling at me.
We bombed down the road, the little car swerving around the corners. Anna always described the Ka as being a ‘go kart’. Which I have to say, did kind of worry me but that didn’t stop me from feeling safe with her driving. She was really good at driving despite sometimes being slightly wild. She wasn’t dangerous just mad.
We drove down through North Sands following Lee’s car. There were people everywhere including some really fit guys. Me and Aria both looked at this really lush guy, our eyes following him as we passed. He had short ruffled dark brown hair and the most amazing brown eyes. We both looked at each other realising that we had both just seen the same guy. We laughed and turned our heads round to take one last look at him. By now Anna was getting suspicious.
“What are you guys looking at?” she asked taking a quick glance in her mirrors. Her eyes suddenly got really big and she smiled and went “Whoa! I can! Hang on!”
I frowned at her not knowing what she was going to do. She turned the car into the next possible turning point and turned the car so it was facing in the direction we had just come in.
“What are you doing?” I asked wondering what was going on.
“Sightseeing!”She said excitedly.
We all laughed as we drove round the three times trying to get a glimpse of the really hot guy. We didn’t manage to spot him until the last time and we all smiled at his presence.
When we finally arrived at the beach Lee, Jason, Amy, Ben and Carmen were all wait in around the car which was parked on the sand. Anna pulled the car up next to Lee’s. Lily and her both got out and pushed the lever down on their seats and pulled them forward so we could get out. We got out, still giggling.
“Where’ve you lot been? You’ve been gone ages.” Carmen asked me.
“We were sightseeing!” I replied trying to hold back a laugh.
Her face was a picture when she realised what I was on about, she couldn’t stop laughing. Amy picked up on what we meant and started to laugh too before saying “Trust you lot!”
The boys by this point we’re looking at each other confused by what was going on.
“I’ll never understand girls.” said Ben shaking his head whilst turning to shut the car door.
We all grabbed our bags and walked onto the beach. I managed to find a spot in front of the sand dunes which had a nice shaded area and was reasonably close to the sea. I placed my towel down on the sand and took my flip flops off.
“Race you to the sea!” Anna screamed as she ran towards the tide.
Everyone apart from me, Amy and Carmen, ran towards her trying desperately to catch up with her. I squinted, the sun preventing me from trying to watch them. I pulled my sunglasses down and shook my head smiling at my friends laughing and messing around splashing each other. I took my sun cream out of my bag and started putting it on my arms. I burned easily so I knew if I didn’t put it on soon I would be red and sore. I was busy rubbing it in when I heard someone call over to me.
“Hey! Bet you could do with some help there!”
That was when I looked over and noticed something I really didn’t want to. The fun had come to a standstill.
