Chapter 34

“Liam...”I said looking up at the ceiling as I lay in bed.

“Yeah?”

“You know earlier on today...when you kissed me...”

“Yeah what about it?

“Well I was just wondering why you did...that’s all.”

“Well...I don’t know...I guess just to make your mates happy,” I breathed a sigh of relief I didn’t want to lead him on or anything. I shut my eyes smiling at the thought that things were still okay between us. “...and I guess I like you.” I opened my eyes in shock and sat up.

“What?” I exclaimed.

“I like you. Is that such a crime?”

“Uh...no but...Liam it’s just...I don’t know if I can forgive you enough to like you like that again. I mean don’t get me wrong your lovely and all but-“

“But only as a friend?”

“Yeah... Look I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt you or anything.”

“It’s okay it’s me who should be apologising in the first place. If I hadn’t done what I did then you wouldn’t be feeling the way you do about me.”

“It’s okay. I mean I forgive you but yeah I don’t think I’ll ever be able to like you like that ever again.”

“I understand completely.”

I put my hand over the side of the bed. “Friends?”

He reached up and shook it. “Friends!”

I smiled but I couldn’t help but feel a little bit guilty. I knew deep down that I had no reason to be but this guy clearly liked me and now I could see that just being ‘friends’ was killing him inside. And I hated that.

“So already?”

“Yeah I think so!” I said pulling on my blue dress. “I can’t believe it’s here Aria I mean it still seems like it should be weeks before it should be.”

“I know right but we’re gonna enjoy this party, we deserve it!”

“Tell me about it!” I said putting some lip gloss on. I looked in the mirror and smiled at my reflection. I really loved the dress and I think I looked quite good in it.

I walked down the stairs and could see that Liam, Amy, Carmen, Emily, Lily, Anna, Jason and Sian all standing in the hallway.

“Hey guys!” I said stepping down off the bottom step.

“Here!” said Liam passing me a bottle of WKD. “Anna said you like this disgusting blue stuff.”

I laughed taking the bottle and drinking a little of it. “Yeah thanks!”

“Nice outfit by the way.”

“You’re not looking too bad yourself!”

A throat was cleared I looked round to see Aria looking at me. “Oh yeah and you Aria of course you look amazing!” I said sarcastically and she glared at me. I laughed “No seriously do you look good!” I said genuinely.

“Hey gorgeous!” said a voice coming through the door. We all turned round a saw it was Lee closely followed Ben.
She smiled a walked past me and over to Lee. She kissed him and they turned back around and held each other’s hand.

“Right so let’s get this party started!” said Anna turning the music on.

“Anna don’t put it up too loud, the neighbours might hear!” I said concerned.
