I woke up to the sound of Aria walking or rather hobbling around. What was she doing? I looked at the time on my phone. It was half past six. I couldn’t remember the last time I had been up this early and honestly I didn’t want to remember my head hurt so much. I was never normally awake before ten sometimes even later unless it was a matter of life or death that I get up. Which on a school morning usually was because if I stayed in bed for even a fraction of a second longer than I was supposed to I risked being murdered by my mother. After toying with the idea of whether to get up or not I decided that I would because I was only going to feel worse if I didn’t. I rose up from the mattress; no correct that the floor. Why was I on the floor? I must have rolled off the mattress sometime in the night. It would explain why I was aching as much as I did. I looked at Anna she looked just as exhausted as I did and it was clear that she too had only just woken up. Aria by now was clattering around in the bathroom.
“Hey”
“Hey” I replied back “How’s your head?”
“Fine. Yours?”
“Not good. How I do not know. I didn’t drink last night only that bit of Malibu I had here before we left. Aria was drinking my drinks so didn’t get the chance to.”
Anna sniggered “Yeah I did see. God she was bad last night wasn’t she?”
“Yeah just a bit. At least she calmed down when we brought her back here.”
“Did you not hear her?”
“Hear what?” I asked puzzled.
“Well in the night she decided that ‘she was scared of the monsters in the closet’ so she tried to get into bed with you but she only ended up pushing you out. I did try and stop her but she was really drunk.”
“Yeah you’re telling me! Oh that explains why I woke up on the floor!”
“Hey guys!” said Aria cheerfully, a smile beaming from both corners of her face. “Good night wasn’t it?”
I went to go and reply but I felt the sudden urge to be sick. I got up and ran quickly to the bathroom before being violently sick. Why was I so ill? I hadn’t even been drinking. Still feeling slightly groggy, I went back to where Aria and Anna were.
“Whoa mate you look rough! How much did you drink last night?” Aria inquired.
“I didn’t!” I laughed “You were drinking my drinks. How the hell do you do it Aria? I don’t drink and I’m ill but then you can’t stand and are lying on the floor and you’re fine.”
“I was lying on the floor?”
“Yes! Don’t you remember any of last night?” Anna added.
“Well I have to admit it is a little hazy.”
“So you don’t remember falling over Lee all the time and then kissing him?”
“Did I? Really? No I don’t remember but that would explain the text.”
She pulled her phone out of the pocket of her purple Animal hoodie and held it up for me and Anna to read the screen. It was a text from Lee saying “Hd gr8 tim 2nit ma b we culd do this agn x”.
“Wow someone got lucky.” I said in a sing song tone.
“Shut-up!” Aria said before nudging me in the ribs. “Do either of you guys know how I did this?” said lifting the leg of her pyjama bottoms up to reveal a very red and swollen foot.
“Christ Aria!” I exclaimed.
“I must have been when you fell coming down the stairs last night. You were complaining all the way home. We practically had to carry you home because you couldn’t walk. We just thought it was because you were drunk”
