Chapter 17: Mission

I had three people talking to me at once. The doctor, Svetlanna, and Yumi. The doctor was trying to ask me questions I couldn't answer about Charlie, Svetlanna was trying to get me to convinse Charlie to go home with her (fat chance), and Yumi just wanted to know what happened. I couldn't hear anything clearly. I wanted to know if Charlie was okay, not listen to these idiots talk and scream.

"Naruto Uzumaki, you have a mission. You must leave with your team as soon as possible." an ANBU handed me a envolope. Great this is just what I needed.

The doctor continued to ask me questions long after Svetlanna and Yumi gave up.

"When was she born?" He asked

"I don't know."

"Does she has any allergies?"

"I don't know."

"What is her past medical history?"

"Look. I. Don't. Know. See that lady over there? Thats Charlies mom. Ask her. I just want to see her. Please, let me see Charlie."

The doctor looked at his chart and nodded. "Room 167."

I practically ran down the hall and around the corner. The scean at home played over and over in my head as I looked for her room. How she fell and shook so violently. How the sound of her head hitting the ground was almost deffening. How I held her to me so she wouldn't hurt herself. I was scared, scared I was going to loose my friend.

Finally I found her room. She was laying in bed with thin lines of tears rolling down her pinched face. I sat down at the foot of Charlies bed and petted her hand. She looked up and sobbed. I pulled her closer and tried my best to make her feel better.

I pulled a cherry sucker from my pocket and dangled in front of her. "Charlies neat, and Charlie's sweet, and Charlie she's a dandey. Every time she goes to town she get's herself some candy." I sang. Charlie laughed and took the offered candy.

"Thanks Naruto. It's not certain yet but the doctors think I might have-"

"Naruto! We have to go now!" Sakura screamed from the doorway.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Thats when I remembered in mission. I tore open the envolope and read the stat. Gaara's been kidnapped?! jeeze, first Matsuri and now Gaara? Suna has issues. I sprang up. "Crap, you're right! Charlie i'm sorry but I have to go."

"But Naruto I have-!"

"Have Yumi stay with you. She knows more about taking care of you anyway. I'll be back in a week."

"Naruto! Naruto!" She yelled for me the entire time I ran down the hall with Sakura. She sounded upset, but my friend was missing! As we ran through the lobby I stopped ral fast to give Yumi the apartment key.

"Call me if something happens. This mission will take a week max."

Yumi just looked at me increadiously. "You're really leaving. Charlie's in the hospital and you're fucking leaving?"

"I have to."

"Fine then. Go. I have to go find Charlie and make her stop crying." She turnned and walked down the row of chairs. She turnned once and acted like she was going to say something, but then just shook her head.

"How do you know if she's crying?" I asked.

"Trust me. If you're leaving at a time like this, she's bawling her eyes out." Sakura continued to urge me on and we left. Girl's are confusing.
