Rain. Of course there would be rain on a day like this. Your boyfriend, well ex boyfriend, had finally admitted to cheating on you. Only because he was caught red handed with the bleach blonde bimbo. You had raced out of his place so fast you didn't even realize that you had left your umbrella behind. So now you were soaked, cold, and angry. Not to mention you were wearing crocs. Your mind was racing with so many thoughts, you weren't paying attention to what was going on around you.
I hope the next time she bleaches her hair it all falls out. I hope he sleeps with someone else and gets the worse STD possible. I hope they-
Before you could finish wishing the worst on those two, you had accidentally shoulder checked someone. You spun around to apologize immediately, but the wet sidewalk and your crocs decided to make an even bigger fool out of you. You slipped and hit the ground.
Bruh.
You squeezed your eyes tight to try to keep from crying out of pain and embarrassment. You had hoped the guy you bumped into kept walking and didn't see you eat shit. Or if he did he decided to keep walking.
"Hey." You heard him say. You tried to ignore him, but you noticed that the rain had stopped pelting you. You slowly open your eyes and find this guy crouching in front of you, close enough so that the umbrella was covering you both.
For a moment you were stunned. You had never seen someone like him before. His skin was... purple? And his eyes were white. Pure white. You felt almost like he could put you in a trance with them. Even his scruffy hair that was pulled into short messy ponytail seemed to have a purple tint to it. After a moment of silence, he started to look worried.
"Hey, are you alright? Did you break something or hit your head?"
You snapped out of your trance and replied. "Oh! Yes, sorry. I should've been paying attention and I was rushing and-"
"No need to explain yourself. It happens to the best of us." He smirked softly. You could feel your ears start to get hot. This is so embarrassing.
The rain had gone away at this point, so he put the umbrella away, stood up, and reached his hand out to me. Hesitantly, you took it and he helped you stand up.
Woah, you thought. He's kinda built.
"Am I allowed to ask what had you walking at a pace like that?" He asked.
"I thought I didn't have to explain myself?"
"Well, that was before I noticed how distressed you were. For all I know you could've just been a bitch. So c'mon, tell this stranger what's on your mind." He smiles and nods to a nearby bench. Without thinking, you walked over to the bench with him. Before you sat down, he pulled out a handkerchief and dried off the bench for you.
"So?" He asks, with the same smile on his face. You started spilling everything that had happened to you today. The ex, the blonde, the crocs. Everything. You don't know why, but something about the way he smiled at you made you feel... something. Safe? Flustered? You didn't know what you felt.
"Don't you feel better now that you've talked to someone about it?"
"I mean, I guess? It still hurts but I'm already over him. I had always knew it was going on but I was in denial."
"Well, knowing all that makes me almost want to forgive you."
"What?!" You whipped your head around to look at him so fast, only to see that smirk. "What are you even saying right now."
"I'm saying that shoulder check hurt! How about you make it up to me by..."
Oh god. You started to feel like this was going to take a bad turn. You are over your ex sure, but that didn't mean you wanted to hook up with random people on the street. No matter how hypnotic his smile was.
He finally decides to finish his thought. "You meet me back here tomorrow"
"That's it?"
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?"
"It's just... I dunno you set it up weird."
He chuckles.
"I don't even know your name."
He looks at me and is silent for a second. "Vincent."
"Y/N."
"Well Y/N. It was very nice to bump into you. Here." Vincent digs around in his pockets and pulls out his wallet. "Here is some bus fair to get home, plus enough bus fair to get back here for tomorrow." He hands me some cash, and a ripped slip of paper. "I'll see ya tomorrow."
Vincent gets up and waves goodbye and flashes a big toothy grin. You could feel your cheeks heat up and your heart thump a little louder. You opened the little slip of paper and see what you assume to be his phone number with the words "call/text me ;)" You enter the phone number into your contacts, and then wait for the bus.
