The next day had finally arrived and you had spent the last hour getting ready. You tried to make it look like you didn't try hard, so you just put on your favorite outfit. You heard your phone go off and instantly checked the message.

Vincent: ready for the best day of your life?

You: that's a pretty big promise lol

Vincent: lolol I'm just that good uwu

You: not the uwu

Vincent: dang thought you were cool :(((

You: ...

You: owo

Vincent: knew it haha. See you in 30

He sends another picture, again with his gorgeous grin. You blush slightly and lock your phone. You headed out the door to the bus stop and waited patiently for your 'best day ever'.

Once you got off the bus, you were immediately greeted by Vincent and his smile. You smile back and go in for a hand shake. He softly grabs your hand, lifts it to his lips, and lightly pecks your hand. Your face heated up instantly.

"Glad to see you again, Y/N." He says while happily offering his arm.

"Isn't that really committed partner vibes? This is our first date." You said half jokingly.

"I did tell you this would be the best day ever, so I plan on treating you like royalty. Think of it as an escort."

"But what if I want it to be committed partner vibes?" You smiled slyly.

"Just take my arm." Vincent nudges you playfully. You giggle and slip your arm into his as you make your way to the coffee shop. It started sprinkling, but it quickly turned into a drizzle. Vincent pulls out his umbrella and opens it above you both.

"Let me guess, you didn't bring your umbrella."  He teased.

"I didn't think it was gonna rain if I'm gonna be honest."

He smiles and softly pulls you in closer. "That's fine, it just means I have an excuse to hold you closer."

You blushed and softly tightened your grip on Vincent's arm. It had been a long time since someone talked to you like that. You couldn't remember if your ex had ever talked to you that way.

You finally made it to the coffee shop and when you went to reach for the door handle, Vincent lightly tapped your hand away. "Royalty, remember?" He says as he opens the door and bows for you. You roll your eyes and walk into the shop. The smell of fresh ground coffee beans filled your nose immediately. You took a second to look over the menu. You decided to go with the chai tea with caramel drizzle. Vincent got a black coffee with two sugars and two creamers.

"Is this order together or separate?" Asked the cashier. You say separate, Vincent says together. He looks at you with a raised eyebrow.

"Why do you insist on being independent today? It's our first date, I'm treating. Together."

The cashier giggles awkwardly and takes his money. She asked you to sit anywhere and the drinks would be out shortly. You guys sit in a booth in the back corner.

"Black coffee huh? How exciting." You say sarcastically. Vincent looks at you with a sly smile.

"Says you. We came to a coffee shop and you got tea."

"You got me there." You both sit in silence for a second. "Hey, I'm sorry I keep messing up your plans this evening. I'm just not used to being taken care of like this. My ex would always make us pay separately and never treated me like 'royalty'. I'm just-" Vincent cut you off

"Don't worry about it. Just try to go with the flow today, yeah?" He smiles softly and lightly holds your hand. You hold back. The waiter brings you the drinks.

"How long were you even with that douche?" Vincent asked as he poured his sugar and creamer into his cup.

"Mmm. About a year."

"Wow. You put up with that for that long. Nobody stopped you?"

"They tried. But I was in denial and ended up pushing all my friends away so... yeah."

"Damn. Well I guess the bar isn't very high then is it." He laughs. You roll your eyes and tel him to shut up jokingly. You hear the doorbell to the shop ring and look up to see who came in. Your heart sank.

"Holy shit." You say as you attempt to cover your face.

"What?" Vincent turns around to see who came in. You grabbed him and pulled him in closer.

"Shut up before he hears or sees us. My ex came in." You whisper.

"No way. For real?" Vincent tried to turn around again to see

"Stop!" You grab him again, but it was too late. He had already spotted you. After he placed his order he made his way to your booth. Great.

"Y/N," you heard him say obnoxiously. "Surprised to see you out today. Is there a reason you didn't answer my calls or text?"

"I blocked your number." You tried to keep it short. You watched his eyes shift over to Vincent. You could see the anger flash in his eyes, something you had seen many times before.

"Who's this guy? It hasn't been 24 hours and you're already on a date?" His voice started to become more aggressive. You started to shut down, you were too anxious and afraid to continue conversing with him. Vincent noticed this.

"Hey man, why don't you just let us enjoy our drinks." Vincent said sternly.

"Why don't you mind your own business, freak. Ok, I don't remember talking to you." You started to sink down deeper into the booth. Vincent's eyebrows furrowed.

"Let's get out of here Y/N. I don't want to be around this dick head any longer." Vincent said as he left a tip on the table, and motioned you to come on. You quickly scooted out of the booth and left in front of Vincent. You could hear your ex mumble something as you left.

Your ex had followed you out of the coffee shop and continued to say things like "whore" and "freak" among other things to us. I could feel Vincent's muscles clench. After about five insults, Vincent turned around to face him. Before you could process what was happening, Vincent had grabbed your ex's hair and knees him in the stomach. Your ex tried to fight back, but after a few swings, Vincent had already pinned him on the ground. His eye was blacked and his nose was bleeding.

"If I see you or hear of you harassing Y/N or me I will kill you."

Your ex laughed. "No you fucking won't pussy."

Vincent pulls out his pocket knife. And holds it to his neck. "Yes I fucking would." You could hear your ex gulp, and Vincent finally let up to walk back over to you. You noticed a bit of blood on Vincent's hands, the red somewhat looked beautiful on his purple skin. He wraps his arms around you tightly and looks over at your ex as he gets up. You were still in shock about everything that just happened. You couldn't speak.

"C'mon. Let's get out of here." Vincent said as you guys quickly walk away.
