Two dark blue eyes looked back at me as I yawned. Luke grinned and kissed my lips, while I tried to shield my eyes from the sunlight streaming in. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer to him and I smiled.

"So touchy." He scowled back at me and feigned being hurt. I rolled my eyes and climbed on top of him. His eyes avoided mine as I continued to try to get him to look at me.

After a few minutes I groaned and rolled off of him. Luke quickly scurried over to me and kissed my cheek. A smirk tugged at my lips as I looked back at him victoriously.

"We have class soon babe." It sounded so nonchalant, as if he was just another student taking this class with me. My eyebrows furrowed together and I nodded. We still had not talked about how we were going to deal with this new dynamic.

"What's the look for?" I smiled and shook my head.

"So what are we gonna do about the whole teacher and student thing?"

"We'll keep it professional. In the classroom you're strictly my student, nothing more." I nodded my head and smiled back at him. His maturity made me very happy, but I realized how hard it was going to be to keep my hands off of him. We ate breakfast together and talked a lot to Josh and Daniel. Everything seemed to be looking up, or at least that's what I would like to believe in that moment.

Too soon, it was time to walk to class and I insisted that I show up separately from Luke. Reluctantly, he agreed. My pace seemed slow even to me as I walked across campus, digging through my brain for something to say to Charlie. But what was there to say? I hurt him and that was something that couldn't be easily fixed. He would need time.

The door in front of me felt heavy as I pushed it open and entered the class. Charlie was planted in the back corner, a pair of sunglasses masking his face. When he saw me approach him, he leaned back and acted as if I wasn't there.

"Charlie?" No response. A sigh escaped my lips as I sat down and waited for class to start. There was no point in causing a scene in the middle of the classroom. Luke appeared a few minutes later, completely composed and professional. I couldn't help the small smile that graced my lips as his eyes met mine. He cleared his throat and looked away. The lecture felt long and drawn out, even if it was my mate.

Finally, he dismissed us and I linked to Luke that I needed to talk to Charlie. Even if he did not respond. I had to tell him what was on my mind. Charlie got up quickly, darting to the door, but I was right behind him. He tried to lose me around a corner, but I grabbed his shoulder, pushing him to a wall. No one was around us as I grabbed his hand and pulled him farther down the hallway.

"Charlie, I need you to hear me out." His head lifted slightly as he leaned against the wall.

"I'm sorry that I hurt you. But you have to know that I do love you. You were the boy that picked me up when I was down and made me feel like the most important person in the world. When I felt like I was alone and I had no one, you were there. You were always there. And this is so hard because I know that I can't be here for you right now because I'm the one that caused this. It kills me that I hurt you and that I may have lost my best friend. But you have to understand that Luke was made for me, the future is inevitable. You'll meet your mate and you'll be happy. I promise you that you'll feel whole again. But until then, I'll be there. Whenever you need me to be." I looked down at my shoes and felt Charlie lift my head up. He pulled his glasses off and I saw his eyes pooling up with tears. A small smile tugged on his lips as I wrapped him in a hug.

"You'll never lose me, cupcake. I love you. And thank you, it just might take me some time." I nodded against his chest and let out tears of my own. Happiness flooded my body and I could honestly say that nothing could have been better than this moment.
