I hummed a song under my breath as I waited for the elevator to reach the bottom. Finally, it opened and I smiled thinking about Luke as I walked out. A girl was crying on a bench nearby and my eyebrows furrowed together when I realized it was Kat. Debating whether or not I should see if she's okay, I sighed, knowing I had to. I sat on the bench beside her and she looked up at me. I scratched the back of my neck as she wiped away her tears.
"Are you alright?"
"K-Kellan rejected m-me." Anger consumed my body and I felt my eyes darkening. Kellan knew that you never reject your mate. It was unethical. I wrapped an arm around Kat's shoulder and she rested her head on me.
"Why would he reject you? You guys were fine yesterday..."
"H-He found out."
"Found out what?"
A blush crept up on her cheeks as she looked away from me. I heard a sigh leave her lips as her eyes met mine once again."That I'm not a virgin."
"But why does that matter? I mean I know you are suppose to save that for your mate, but he isn't a virgin either... There's no way."
"He is. He said he saved it for me so I would be the only girl for him and I ruined everything." More sobs left her as I tried to understand what was happening. I figured the only way to find out was to talk to Kellan. I glanced at my phone and my eyes widened, realizing I was late for class. I promised Kat I would talk to Kellan and she put her number in my phone so I could text her. '
I got to class panting and the whole class stared at me. My teacher glared, but I couldn't help but stare at him. He had curly brown hair that swept across his forehead and blue eyes full of irritation. His skin was pale and I could feel the power rolling off him in waves. His eyes softened as they met mine and I frowned. I took my seat next to Charlie who shot me a goofy grin. I rolled my eyes and looked back at the teacher who was still staring at me.
"Why are you late to my class?"
"I'm s-sorry. I uh.. I was... uhm... helping a friend. It wont happen again." All I could do was focus on his voice. It was perfect.
"What's your name?"
"Uhm Aria. Aria Daniels."
"Well Aria Daniels do not be late to my class again." I nodded my head while trying to shake the lust from my head. What the hell. Luke was my mate. Luke. The rest of class was a blur. All I could think about was why I was attracted to this stranger. It didn't add up. The bell rang and I jumped up quickly, grabbing my stuff. As I walked I did not notice where I was going and ended up face first on the floor with my stuff scattered around me. Everyone was gone, including Charlie which I found bizarre. I began picking up my stuff when I felt someone breathing on the back of my neck. A shiver traveled down my spine as I came face to face with the unknown teacher. He smirked and took a step back, crossing his arms. I swallowed and returned to picking up the rest of my things as quickly as I could.
I felt his eyes watching me and I had to force myself to control my desire. Slowly, I stood up and turned around. He was leaning against the wall casually with his arms folded across his chest. I licked my lips and his eyes followed the movement. I took a step back and he took one forward. This went on until I was trapped against the wall. Both of his arms encased me and I took a deep breath in. He smelled like fire and the outdoors. My eyes almost rolled to the back of my head and I involuntarily leaned closer to him. It frightened me that I could be attracted to someone else like this.
"Who are you?"
"You can call me Max." The name sounded smooth coming out of his mouth and I glanced up into his eyes. They were a dark shade of blue, almost violet. My hand went on his chest, making his eyes start to cloud. I was happy the feeling went both ways, but was confused when his eyes began turning red on the outer edges. I stepped back, only to hit my head on the wall. I rubbed it and groaned. Max chuckled and I shivered. What was he? Werewolves did not have eyes that did that. Yet, as far as I knew we were the only mythical thing that existed. M mind struggled to comprehend what was going on and I closed my eyes. When I opened them he was gone. Huh?
I took a step forward, only to have him reappear in front of me. He smirked and I frowned, feeling uneasy. His hand went up to my cheek and I leaned into the icy feeling. What was going on? Why did I feel like this?
"What are you?" He smiled, showing his white teeth. My eyes widened as his teeth molded into fangs. What the hell?!
"No. No. NO!" I began to try to get him away from me. I kicked and scratched and punched, but he only laughed.
"Aria, that is not very nice darling."
"I'm not anything to you! You're a monster!"
"Aren't we all?" I shook my head as he grabbed a lock of my hair and began twirling it around his finger.
"You're a vampire." He scoffed and glared at me.
"No. Vampires don't exist Aria. And I would not like to be compared to one."
"But... You have fangs and and your eyes!"
Max bent down and whispered softly in my ear. "I'm a demon."
