(Damien’s view)

Damien refused to accept the fact that Sabre was still out there, doing who knows what. How in the world was he still alive? He killed Sabre with his own hands.

“What makes you think I’ll believe a word you say?” he asked Roger, even though, he knew Roger wouldn’t make it up if it had anything to do with Sabre. But, then again, he did change a lot after Dina’s death.

For all he knew, Roger could have been putting up an act to get revenge and kill Carmina so Damien could feel the same pain he had felt all those years he spent without Dina.

“Damien, you’re the only person who knows me more than I know myself. D o you really think I’d put a human in any kind of danger for no reason? You seriously have no idea how much strength it took me to stop myself from taking Anne back to her home; it’s like I could feel her pain when she was crying. I would’ve taken her back home, but, I had no choice. It was the only way to bring you to me,” Roger answered back, hoping Damien would believe every word he said.

“Still, how am I supposed to know that you’re not making any of this up, huh? How am I supposed to know that this isn’t part of one of your schemes to get revenge of what I did to Dina?” he asked, wanting to make sure Roger wasn’t making any of it up.

“Look, I know that I turned mean and vicious after Dina died but that was my way of mourning; it was the only way to control my anger and to stop myself from ripping someone’s head off. Plus, it was only towards my own kind, vampires, not humans. Did you see any bruises or cuts on Anne?” Roger asked. “Well, except for the one on her thumb; that was so I could write that message on your porch and you’d think I really did kidnap her.”

Damien shook his head, watching Roger’s expression change. It did look like he was telling the truth. He could remember the times when Roger used to try and lie to him but failed while doing so since he was a very bad one.

“Exactly,” he replied. “You know what, now that I think about it, I am getting revenge for Dina’s death. It was Sabre’s fault you had to kill Dina. Not only that, he killed hundreds of innocent humans.”

“Okay, I believe you,” Damien told him. “Guys, you can let him go now.”

“Without a word, Cameron and Diane let go of Roger, but, decided to stand by him just to be on the safe side.
