Cat's POV
My alarm clock sounded from my night stand. Great, time to start another agonizing day in the life of Cat Stone. Fantastic.
I reluctantly got out of bed and made my way over to the bathroom. Time to shower before waking Jen up, dropping her off, and then making my way to school. What a boring routine.
The hot water relaxed my tired muscles and before I knew it, the water turned cold. I usually did that, by which I mean stood in the shower thinking until it turned cold or Jen came in the bathroom begging me to take her somewhere.
A white towel was tightly rapped around my dripping body as I made my way over to my closet and grabbed a pair of worn jeans and a sweatshirt. I slipped my underwear on and got dressed in my usual outfit. My hair was still soaking wet so I plugged in my hair dryer and attempted to styles the long drown waves that sat atop my head. I dabbed concealer under my eyes to hide the purple colorings that showed my inner exhaustion. Mascara and light eyeliner on my top lids only finished my look of 'I could care less'.
"Jen time to get ready for school," I stated as I entered her room.
She was already up by her closet with her lighter brown hair in wet trails behind her. She only had her underwear on as she contemplated what to wear.
"Did you shower?" I walked over to her and ran my fingers through her wet hair.
"I did! And now I'm trying to pick out and outfit! I heard your alarm go off so I thought I should get ready too!" She ran over to her drawers and pulled out a light yellow flower shirt.
"I thought I told you to let me help you with the shower. I don't want you to fall and get hurt." I grabbed a pink brush that was on her dresser and ran it through her hair. She was growing up too quick and becoming less dependent on me, which hurt like hell.
"I'm fine trust me!" She struggled to pull herself into the shirt so I assisted before getting up and finding a small pair of pants for her. She wiggled her tiny body into them and made her way to her bathroom.
"Can you dry my hair for me? And dry it like you do to yours please?" Her pleading eyes showed hope and I couldn't help but smile.
"Of course sweetheart," I plugged in her hair dryer and after a few minutes of pulling at her hair with the brush lightly, she had small waves trailing down her back.
"Thanks! Can you do my make up too!?"
Her question made me laugh until tears formed in the corners of my eyes.
"Jen, your a little too young to be wearing makeup now come on I'll stop at Starbucks and get us something to eat, yeah?" I checked my watch and sure enough we had about and hour to kill before school.
"Even better!" She chirped and clapped her hands together as she started to grab things and ram them into her backpack.
"I'll go make you lunch for today and get my school work then we'll head out," and with that I headed toward the kitchen

Today was no exception for London weather. It was groggy and cold outside. Which only added to my bad mood. Not that it showed on the outside.
We made out way into the small building and Jen was quick to find a table. I went up the the small blonde haired woman who was at the register.
"How may I help you?" Her voice caused me to flinch a bit. Too early.
"I'll have a cinnamon latte and a chocolate chip muffin please." I took out the money and handed it to her as someone else got my order ready. She then handed me the warm drink and the muffin with a cheery smile.
I almost dropped everything when I saw some man standing I front of the table that Jen was seated at. He had his back to me so I couldn't tell who he was. Fear courses through me as I dropped my drink and the muffin and bolted toward the table, only to realize that it was Harry and Gemma was seated next to Jen with a grin on her face as the girls talked.
"You scared me to death I didn't know who you were!" I spat rather rudely as I clutched my heart.
"Erm... Sorry I.. Well Gemma recognized her so I just let her say hi," embarrassment and guilt was clear on his face as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Cat did you get me my muffin?" Jen inquired as she folded her hands over her chest. She clearly saw that I was empty handed so fake anger played on her face.
I turned and looked at the mess that was now being cleaned up by what I supposed was the janitor of the place. I mouthed him a 'sorry' and turned back to Jen.
"I guess I have to get you a new one. I dropped it by mistake," I turned to go back to the woman who helped me before when a large hand caught hold of my wrist.
"Let me, it was my fault you dropped it so it's the least I can do and besides I have to get Gemma and I something as well. Wait here." He hurried off and I assumed he must have asked the woman what I had ordered cause he came back with a cinnamon latte and a chocolate chip muffin on top of a tea and some weird looking pastry thing.
"Thanks," I muttered as I grabbed the dink from him and took a sip. Warm cinnamon instantly took over my mouth.
"Sure thing, that's what friends are for!" He chirped causing me to almost choke on my beverage.
What did he just say?
