Alec POV

After 3 weeks of searching I finally found her. I was standing outside of the California institute. I decided not to tell Jace or the others that I had found her. Magnus and I had not spoken to each other since he cheated on me. Jace had gotten no sleep ever since Clary had left and Robert and Maryse were frantically searching for Clary, and here I was. 

"Do you need something" I heard a voice coming from the front door of the institute 

"Ah yes Im here to see an old friend her name is Clary Morgenstern/Fray/Fairchild she came here a few weeks ago" I said 

"Well sorry you have the wrong place"

I was so disappointed to hear that all this looking was for nothing. But I was still tired.

"Well can I stay the night" I asked

"Sure"she said and gestured for me to come in

As soon as I walked in I saw a boy that looked the same as the woman who opened the door and an unusual woman with grey eyes. She seemed to be surprised to see me she was standing there with her mouth hanging open.

"Im Alec Lightwood" I said confidently trying to make a good first impression.

"Hmm"the boy said and walked off

"Well Im Rose and thats my brother Raven, this (she said gesturing to the woman with the grey eyes) is Tessa Grey she is new too, she came here a few weeks ago" Rose said

"Well it's nice to meet you" I said 

Rose had showed me to my room and began to start up a conversation before leaving me in my room. While Rose and I were talking Tessa continued to stare at me as if I was an alien. I sat down on my bed thoughts flying through my head. I had lost Clary forever. Where could she be?. Why wouldn't she talk to me. I was finally about to fall asleep until I heard my phone ring.

"Hello" I said

"Hi Alec is that you" Isabelle said

"Yeah what do you want" I said angrily I was tired and just wanted to sleep

"Look don't be mad at me I had no idea how he found out" she said

"Who found out what" I said urgently, this sounded bad

"Well it's Jace he tracked you and now he's coming to you. He knows that you know where Clary is and he seems really pissed" she said with a worried voice.

"We both know that Jace has changed ever since Clary left, he's more violent and angry" she said

"Look thanks for warning me but it doesn't matter Clary isn't here" I said looking down at my hands.

"Well this must be awkward" I knew that, that wasn't Isabelle's voice. I looked up to the door way of my room to see Clary standing there leaning on the door with her hands crossed over her chest with a smirk on her face.

I fell completely silent.

"Alec, Alec what is it are you okay" Isabelle said through the phone.

I continued to just stare at Clary as if she was a ghost.

"Is that Izzy on the phone, here" she gestured to the phone 

I did as she said and passed her the phone I could here Isabelle screaming through the phone.

"Clary OMG why havn't you called girl" I could hear her say

"Sorry trouble in paradise" Clary said sarcastically
