Bonds That Last

Clary POV

"Jonathan" I said 

"Hes hes ... dead" I repeated aloud. I could feel my body shaking. I didn't no what to do.

"NO NO NO NO NO"I screamed out loud. I yelled at the sky.

"Don't take them both! Please dear god don't take them both!"I cried and screamed. Everyone was trying to pull me away from Jonathan's body. I looked a little further ahead and saw Raven's body. I ran to him and dragged his body so it was next to Jonathan's.

"Why why are you both so cold?"My voice cracked and my throat was hoarse.

"Give them back!"I screamed. Everyone had stopped trying to pull me away and watched me. Pity evident in their eyes. Isabelle was crying into Simon's chest as Simon attempted to stay strong but his hold on Isabelle's shoulder didn't seem to be able to stop his eyes from watering. Alec and Magnus stood side by side, hand in hand. The both of them constantly wiping their tears. Rose stood next to Alec gripping onto his other hand as if she was about to break apart. I was angry. Angry that in only a few hours both of them could be taken away from me. I screamed, I cried and I cursed.

"Please"I begged and put my head down on Ravens chest and my hand on my brothers chest. 

"I just got you back. I finally had my brother. I finally found him. Please"I cried my hands shaking uncontrollably.

"You both were too good for this world and you don't owe anyone anything. Im sorry that you died because of me. For my own selfish reasons and happiness"I said with a straight voice. I no longer could feel anything. I felt so empty. Just as I was feeling as if no one would feel the same way as if I were alone I felt a hand on my arm.

"They were"

I turned and looked at Rose.

"Raven you are such an idiot. This is all part of you're plan. get yourself killed so that I had to deal with all the chores myself"she laughed "You were always a slacker"She said in a tearful tone but I could tell by the way her voice shakes and the grip on my shoulder getting tighter that she was trying all she could to not cry. 

"We are shadow hunters Clary"She said as she pulled me to my feet.

"This is what we do. We live. We fight. We die and we live on in our loved ones memories"she said as a tear fell from her eye. 

She looked me in the eye and I suddenly felt a surge of strength. She placed a seraph blade in my open hand and closed it. She held onto my hand almost as if she was trying to emit her own strength into it. She gave me a confident look and attempted to smile. She looked down at Raven's body.

"Not once was he able to do anything without me. He needed me as much as he hated to admit it. I was supposed to die first. All this time I worried about what he would do if I died. But I never once thought that he was my purpose that I would be hopeless without him"She laughed as tears fell from her eyes "But than again" She turned to me with a bright smile. A real smile. "He was always full of surprises"She laughed I laughed with her. It surprised me that I could do that. But it came so naturally.

"A Raven and a Rose. Can't be one or the other, Can't be without each other." she said as the touched an iron ring on her finger. Hers had a green gem that had seem to go dim while I looked to Ravens finger and his was similar with a red gem that lit up.

"I thought Iron burned fey?"I said to her 

"Since we are only half fey it doesn't hurt us. Both our rings are enchanted. His lights up with my life force and mine his. Well not anymore"She said sadly "It was supposed to keep us connected and heed both our demon sides. It seemed to only do the second" She looked down in sadness.

"Well this is really sweet"We heard Jace say. He still was in his demon form. I was confused. Hadn't Jonathan killed himself with the mortal sword to stop him. Shouldn't this had brought Jace back. Shouldn't Jace be normal now.

"As cute as that sounds no. It's as simple as that honey"He laughed.

He slowly began to walk towards me. Everyone tried to move forward to protect me but a giant wall of flames had isolated me from them. Rose had been blasted back and slammed against the Cathedral wall and collapsed unconscious. 

"ROSE!"I yelled 

I didn't attempt to go to her. Afraid that my presence would only hurt her to. Alec had already ran to her and was attempting to draw healing runes.

"It's just me and you. Just how it's supposed to be"Jace said with a deadly smirk.

I looked down at my feet at Raven's body and Jonathan's. i looked at their faces.

"No"I whispered

"Huh speak up darling"Jace taunted. He was standing behind me and turned me around with a hand on my chin forcing me to look up into his red eyes. His touch disgusted me it felt as hot as the flames that protruded out of his body.

"I said"I grabbed his hand and broke it and ran to the outer rim of the flames. he was right it is just me and him suck in this arena of flames. A circle of fire created around us with both Raven's and Jonathan's bodies inside. They were however on the far side. I did my best to stay away from them in a pathetic attempt to protect their bodies from harm.

"Thats cute"Jace said as he snapped his hand back into place and began to walk towards me.

I stood in a defence stance and held my seraph blade confidently. 

"Im warning you Clary. You are going to get hurt"Jace said "And I don't want to hurt you"

I snarled at him and ran forward. I am going to kill him or die trying. I took him by surprise and was able to slash his back. He was moving so fast I couldn't keep up. Quickly I was able to use a rune to help me keep up. I created a new rune and decided that me and against him wasn't a fair fight so I had to use my rune power to even it out.

I transported out of the fire circle onto the roof pillars of the Cathedral. I was looking down at his confused face. 

"Hide and seek. I can play that"He said with a smirk

This was going to be a long fight.
