Save me

I opened my eyes, the cold concrete pressed against my face. I sat up, everything around me dark. Pitch black, really. I blinked and stood walking forward with my arms out, looking for something to tell me where I was. A cold light radiated from my right, and I spun around as a car drove past me. I chased after it, seeing where it was going. Straight to Gabriel's car, where the three of us sat.

"NO!" I screamed as the car rapidly approached us "LOOK OUT, NO!"

I stopped though, it was too late. I could see it from here. Gabriel's head smashed into the steering wheel just before the airbag deployed, bleeding out. Lizzie got flipped over the backseat, but the seatbelt still had her secured, so she was half over the seat with the seatbelt pressed against her neck. It was cut a little, and if the seatbelt was at a slightly different angle it would have cut her head off. But it was suffocating her instead. And there was me, nearly suffocated by my airbag, and crushed against the car door.

I covered my eyes and cried, the sight horrifying me. I looked back up and saw the gurney wheeling Gabriel's body away, and the paramedics trying to save Lizzie.

"WHY!" I yelled again before falling back on to the concrete "Why you guys?" I whispered, closing my eyes. I felt the pain, it was insufferable. Maybe if I just lied there...

But voices came out from a distance, calling my name, all familarish.

"Amy?" Joe?

"Baby, are you okay?" That was Steven, obviously

"Wake up" Joey, for sure

"Amy, Amy, it's okay" That sounded like Brad

"It's just a dream." And Tom

"Huh?" I said, opening my eyes. Light flooded in and I shut them, groaning "Where am I?" I looked arounf and saw the guys crowded around me. I realized I was in the livingroom right then. Right, I took a nap after my run. "Oh God, did I scare you guys? I'm sorry" I said.

Steven lifted me up for a minute so he could sit, putting me in his lap "No, don't be. We just got worried cause we heard you from outside."

"Ah man" I said and laid my head on Steven's chest "I thought the nightmares would go away"

"Nightmares?" Joey repeated

"Of the crash" Steven filled it. I had been having the nightmares for over two weeks, since the incident at the hospital happened, about a month after the accident.

"Have you seen anyone about it? They might be able to help.." Tom offered.

I shook my head "No, no. It's okay, thank you. I think talking to someone might make it worse honestly"

"You know what" Steven said "Maybe we'll get you out of here again. Head to Hawaii. It could be fun!"

I shook my head again "I don't want to go anywhere until Lizzie wakes up" I said stubbornly.

The guys looked at each other uneasily, and I felt sick to my stomach.

"Amy.." Steven said, moving my head to look at him "It's been a month, and nothings changed. You have to accept that Lizzie may not be waking up anytime soon..." He said slowly "And prepare for if she doesn't at all."

"NO!" I shouted, pushing Steven away from me "No! Lizzie is a fighter! She will wake up, okay? She has to!"

"Amy" Tom said

"Don't Amy me!" I screamed as I jumped up "None of you know her! She's going to wake up! She's going to be fine, and I'm not leaving until she does!"

They didn't say anything, but looked at each other again.

"What? Do you guys know something I don't?" I said, holding back tears

"Lizzie's sister called while you were sleeping" Steven said, standing up and walking to me "It's nothing definate, but it doesn't look promising"

"Oh God" I let the tears fall out "She can't... die... She.. can't!" I whimpered.

Steven opened his arms for a hug, but I just pushed him away again. I couldn't. I couldn't be comfortated, not right now. I back away and ran out the door, Steven shouting after me. I kept running though.

After a few blocks, I collapsed on the sidewalk, out of breath and sobbing.

"Hey! Hey, are you okay?" Some guy said, running to me "Are you alright?"

"No, not really" I sniffled and tried not to gag.

"Come on, let's get you some water."
