Mark's POV
When we arrived at our stop I checked my phone. I had two texts from my mom. I read them and texted her I'd be at a friend's house. I knew she didn't care where the hell I was but, her mood changes so I want to be on the safe side. We waited for the bus to leave and then we walked right to his house. I quickly looked behind me and saw the bench we first talked on and I laughed a little.
"What do you have for homework?" I slung my arm around his shoulder and he looked up at me smiling.
"Oh so you do like school!" He looked around at the houses to decide which one was his.
"I pay attention." I smirked as he blushed and cleared his throat. He obviously knew that I was talking about when we were passing notes and he told me to pay attention.
"Well a lot I guess... I have two projects and one essay." He squinted to see the numbers of the houses.
"Hmm let me guess, back in Ireland you had A's and you were in the Spelling Bee." He laughed a little.
"Not exactly, all A's no Spelling Bee. My school didn't have one. What about your grades?" We started walking up to his front door.
"C's and D's." I shrugged. To be honest I was really smart when I try, I just didn't have time to do my assignments since my mom never stopped yelling and I didn't care where I ended up. But if Jack wants to get in a good college I'll pull my grades up.
"Doesn't your mom care?" He laughed a little and I felt nervous, he didn't know. It's okay.
"Yeah, not so much." I laughed along and we went inside.
"If my mom asks, you have A's and B's." Jack whispered then laughed a little. "Stay here, I'll be right back." He whispered then walked off.
I looked around the room without moving and looking at the furniture. I heard murmuring from the kitchen. Jack came back with his mom, they looked similar in a gene type of way.
"Hi Mark. I'm glad my little boy made a friend. Back in Ireland he'd just play video games and talk about his grades. Oh I'm rambling aren't I? Sorry about that." Jack was just face palming himself as his mom kept talking.
"It's okay Mrs.McLoughlin. I enjoy hearing stories." I said truthfully and she seemed to perk up.
"Oh what a nice boy." She laughed and I laughed along with her so she wouldn't feel bad even though I didn't get the joke.
"Mark, did your parents say you can sleep over? It's fine by me if you stay over, should I give them a call?" She smiled and messed up Jack's hair.
"Oh no thank you Ms.McLoughlin, I already texted my mom." I looked down hoping she wouldn't ask for her number.
She laughed a little like Jack does. Maybe that's why I'm laughing along.
"Alright boys, dinner will be ready in a few hours. You guys can have some fruit until then." She points at a bowl of fruits.
"Thanks mom." Jack waves and headed upstairs.
"Thank you Mrs.McLoughlin." I waved goodbye then I headed upstairs.
I closed the door behind us and I wasn't surprised when I turned around and saw Jack's room was organized and pretty. The wall paint was blue and alight blue carpet. Jack sat on his bed and I gladly sat down by him.
"Let's do homework." Jack pulled out his book and I pushed away. Did he really want to do homework now? He's such a smart weirdo. My smart weirdo though.
"What the heck Mark?" He laughed and picked up the denote Math book.
"What?" I messed up his brown hair and he rolled his eyes and held the Math book in front of his face to protect himself as he formed into a ball. What a goof ball, literally.
