Jack's POV
It was weird, I just came back from French class and it was time for Mark to spend time with me, I was a little sad he was with Emma, I kind of wanted him to talk to me alone, but hey it's just one day. How bad could it be?"Emma, hey!" I waved over seeing them walk toward me, I thought Mark despised her... maybe she made Mark bring her here.
"Listen sugarpop, we gotta talk!" Emma sat down with her pink lunch box and Mark made his way to sit by me while Emma sat across from us.
"I heard you wanted to outcool Chloe, is that right?" She took out and apple and I looked over at Mark. Why did he tell her?
"Hey!" I slightly punched Mark in the arm lightly, but he chuckled a little which made me smile.
"Don't worry, I was peer pressured." I groaned and rolled my eyes. What a dork... my dork.
"Jack baby, don't worry about it. All I'm here for is to help. Make you look all pretty and well disguise you slightly. You'll come to school and oh no you're prettier than her, and cooler than her. Simple." She took a bite and I felt a pang in my stomach.
"Emma, being cool is not about being pretty. Maybe I am not popular, but being cool does not base you off of what is on the outside. It's what lies within that will count in the end. If you think being pretty is the top priority, then you are no better than Chloe is." I took a deep breath. It went kind of silent, but Mark was the first to break the silence by slipping his hand in mine.
"You do not have my condolence to do that to my Jackaboy." I looked over at Mark and smiled, not that I thought he'd disagree with me, it was just nice to know someone's got your back... like Mark.
"Alright, alright. So this is how it usually goes down. If you get real popular she'll ask if you want to go to Starbucks on Friday after school. Once you two walk out you'll walk toward Starbucks, but you'll end up at a small park where then she'll threaten you. The way to win is well... threaten back." Emma was helpful, but it was weird. I didn't want that. I wanted to help and build people up, not tear them down.
"No, no violence. I'm about positivity. There's gotta be another way. What if I said I could pay for her drink or something. I want to outcool her not make her feel bad. I just don't want her to take advantage of anyone." I looked at Emma then at Mark and I blushed at how fondly he was looking at me. What a dork... my dork.
mine.
"Fine! Fine! Fine! Just listen please, let me doll you up, please. I get it you don't have to be pretty to be popular okay? I just want to see what'd it'd be like for you to have makeup and stuff! Okay? Also, you don't have to threaten her then just get people to follow your movement. Support how you won't raise violence and take a stand for the different people and crush society's rules!" Were all learning things about each other today.
It's fun.
"Babe, if you don't want to it's okay. Just be careful, mkay?" Mark said calmly and I couldn't help, but smile a little.
"Sounds fun. Doll me up tomorrow. Your house five o'clock, here's the catch. If I want to do things my way, let me. I'm still open to your ideas, also Mark has to be with me twenty-four seven." I look over at Mark and he gives me this goofy smile and runs his hands through my hair. I feel myself become compliant with the gesture and lean my head on his shoulder.
"Alright fine, I can't wait! Here's my number I'll text you the address." Emma spoke and I looked up at Mark who had a semi stone cold face. Polar opposites.
"Got it." I closed my eyes and nuzzled closer to Mark. He was really warm and I was pretty cold.
"God your fingers are cold." Mark remarked (ahahahahaha good choice of words.)
"Like the rest of me." I laughed a little and I felt kind of bad for Emma who may have felt like a third wheel, but hey she's going to put makeup on me today so who cares anymore?
"Babe, why didn't you say anything?" Mark mumbled and pulled away from me, which made me feel slightly isolated and I missed the feeling of Mark.
"Arms up." I put them up and once I noticed Mark took of his sweatshirt I blushed. What a gentleman, my gentleman.
I complied to his command and then once the sweatshirt was on me I swooned. His cologne was strong and it felt like heaven. I may have moaned just very quietly, but Mark definitely heard.
"You two are both dorks." Emma rolled her eyes jokingly. Jealous obviously.
"Yeah, but he's my dork." Mark said and pulled me back to his chest.
What a dork, but he's my dork.
