I don't remember the exact moment I started falling in love with you.
But something shifted that November night. On the worst night of my life, when you walked in the rain to my house just to see if I was doing okay. With drops on rain hanging onto your hair and eyelashes, you held me tight as we sat on my front porch. And with my tears mixed with the rain, you let them soak into your shirt.
Maybe it was the way you held me, maybe it was the way you hushed my loud sobs by repeating 'I'm here for you' in my ear. Maybe it was how you stayed with me, til I eventually pulled out of our embrace. and when I lay in bed that night, missing your warmth. How it made me shiver, despite being wrapped up in comfort, knowing you were never leaving me.
Or maybe it was days after, when I found myself drowning in your ocean eyes. Realizing how I'd not hesitate to spend the rest of my life looking at them.
But, out of all the days, one moment stands out. The day when Snow Patrol played on TV and you pulled me up from my seat to dance. While I rested my right cheek on the left side of your chest, your heart was beating along with the beat of 'Chasing Cars.' I looked up to meet your eyes, and you smiled that lopsided smile of yours, and in that moment I knew it for sure. I knew it without a doubt.
I was in love. completely, infinitely in love with you.
