It was my birthday today. I was now 14. We had decided to follow through with Glen, after all, he seemed to be telling us the truth, and he never threatened to kill us. He offered us our own rooms again, almost identical to the Conquerors' rooms. There was different furniture though. There was a desk, and a bed. That was it. No closet full of armour or anything. We had slept the night there, and I had woken up to my birthday. It was odd, waking up on my birthday without my family. My family. My heart started to hurt a little, I miss them. At least I had Fiona and Danny. I had no idea what I was getting into, what adventures I would go on. I decided to see if I could get some breakfast. I slowly crept out to see if anyone was awake. I walked quietly down the hallway into the main room, where we sat in yesterday. Then I ran into Fiona,

"Oh! Hi Mac. Are you hungry?"

"Yeah, I came to find Glen or the kitchen."

"Let's search some more."

So we set off in search of food. There were many rooms we passed. My mind was curious, but my stomach was hungry, so we continued on.  We finally made it to a big room with what looked like a refridgerator. As we got closer, we realized it was a safe.

"Do you think there's food in it?" I joked.

"No, but now I'm curious..." She sounded serious, and took a step closer.

"I don't think that's a good idea... Besides, do you even know the passcode?"

"No. But I can try..." She reached out towards it.

"NO!" I yelled, slapping her hand away. She looked at me like I was crazy or something,

"It might be booby trapped or something." I explained. She nodded,

"Yeah... You're right." Her stomach grumbled, "I guess we should keep going. We can ask Glen about it later."

We kept going, and eventually found a real kitchen.

"Thank goodness!" We both exclaimed.

We found muffins in the cupboards, along with crackers. In the fridge, we found cheese, milk, and applesauce. As I looked around for dishes and cutlery, Fiona opened a muffin,

"It's not the best breakfast I've had, but it's food!"

"I agree. Oh, here are the plates!"

We ate heartily, and couldn't wait to talk to Glen about that safe. Later today, I would have a fresh start to my life. I would start at a new age! Maybe 14 is my lucky -or unlucky- year!
