Chapter 13 The Safe

When we returned, Glen immediately took the map, and disappeared. A moment later, he returned and told us to go to the mission room. Once we got there, Glen began to speak,

"Congratulations. That was quite a task you completed. I know you have many questions, but hear me out." He took a breath, "As you know, our overall goal is to obtain the Secret Stone. That is easier said than done, but since we have the map now, we at least know where to start. Corple, by now, has most likely started up a search for us, and has sent scouts to the town to question the people. We must go quickly to begin our search for the gem."

"We? You're coming too?" Fiona asked, "What about preparing and resting before this 'big adventure'? What about our questions? And what about that safe in the room by the kitchen, what's in there?

"Ah. I was wondering when you'd ask that. Come with me."

On the way, Glen talked some more, "I've searched my whole life for that Secret Stone, and now once we've finally found it, you think I won't come to dig it up? For crying out loud, I'm only 54!"

"Only." Danny said under his breath. I jabbed him in the ribs.

We soon found ourselves in front of a big titanium safe. Glen was now holding a stick. Where'd he get that stick? 

"I assume you didn't go very near it when you two found it?" Glen said in an inquisitive way.

"G-guh-" Fiona sputtered, "How did you find out about that? And why would you assume that?"

"I just know." He answered, "Anyway, I can assume that because if you did..." He tossed the stick towards the safe, "...this would happen." As if on cue, a blinding light appeared, and the stick was gone. I looked over at Fiona and found her face filled with shock, disbelief, regret, and finally... relief. Glen walked over to the other side of the room as if nothing had happened, and press his pinky, ring, and index finger on the wall. He then went back to the safe and threw another stick (how does he do that?) at the safe. This time however, the stick just bounced harmlessly off the titanium and fell to the ground.

"I have many more traps and passcodes so if you'll kindly take a step back and excuse me, mustn't give away all my secrets..." With that, he pressed a button on the safe and disappeared! The safe had also disappeared, so I assumed it was some sort of cloaking device on the area. Starn gasped. He apparently hadn't seen this trick before. A little while later, Glen reappeared with an open safe. He winked at me. To this day, I still don't know why he did, he just did. Inside the safe, were hundreds of rare gems and stones.  All the ones you could think of, and a lot more. In the middle of the room (for this was a giant safe) was a small golden pedestal surrounded by four velvet pillows. On three of the pillows were gems. I recognized the gems immediately. The one farthest from me was the Sky Gem. The one closest to me was the Earth Gem. The one to my right was the Water Gem, but the one to my left was missing...

"The Fire Gem!" I exclaimed. I had put it in my pocket, and at the sound of its name, it vibrated, "The one in Corple's robot!"

Glen nodded, "Yes... That's the only one Corple got before me... I-I want to... combine the four gems, to make a... Universe Gem. Maybe then I could use it as a... tracker of sorts, to help find the Secret Stone. I just need the Fire Gem."

"Are you crazy?" Ami asked, flabbergasted, "Do you know how powerful that gem would be? It could end the world! What if Corple got his hands on it? Besides, we have the map now, so we don't need a super-powerful-tracking-gem-thingy."

"I suppose you're right..." Glen said sadly.

His eyes glistened. He seemed deep in thought. He disappeared, then reappeared with the safe back to its former position.

"Alright then, we must prepare to leave." He looked at at Fiona, Danny, and I, "This will be a dangerous, exciting, life-threatening, crazy mission you three have signed up for... Are you ready?"

We looked at each other and nodded,

"Yes."

Omigosh!!! The adventure has started!  This is going to be fun to write. I already have a plot twist ending planned... Hehehehe.

Anyway, I'm SUPER SORRY that I haven't updated in SO LONG. I had what I liked to call my "Writer's Slump". I just didn't want to write for a long time, then school got really chaotic and crazy, so I just never had the time. But now, SUMMER'S HERE!!! I plan to get back to updating about once a week, so hang in there for the next chapter! Thank you to all my followers and Wattpad friends for being so patient and supportive to me. I'm officially saying now, that if you are a follower of TeaLeaves22 (me) then you are an official TeaLeaf! That's really the best that I could come up with...
