Chapter 1 A Normal Day?

  Ugh, Mondays. Have you ever woken up on a Monday and just couldn't wait to get out of bed? Neither have I. My name's Makenzie, but everyone calls me Mac. I have short red hair, and blue eyes. I'm 13. My friends say it's an unlucky year, but I don't think so. "Rise and shine sleepyhead!" "Thump!" That was the sound of my sister hitting me in the head with a pillow. A hard pillow. Ow. My sister's name is Janeena, but I like to call her Moo Moo because she loves milk and is, for some reason, obsessed with emus...  She's got long blonde hair and always plays with it or complains about it. She has green eyes. I guess I should probably get up now, that pillow hurt. As I walked to my kitchen, I see my dad rushing past. He must be late for work, "HiMacbyeMac!" His words are a blur, I have to think twice before I answer, "Oh, hi dad! Um, bye dad!" But he was already out the door. My mom had set out my school stuff and breakfast. "Thanks mom!" I yell to her before grabbing my lunch. My mom's got red hair and green eyes, while my dad has brown used-to-be-blond hair and blue eyes. "Morning scrub!" Ugh, that's my brother Nick. He's the prankster of the family. "Love you too." I replied sarcastically. He stuck out his tongue at me. So mature for a 21 year old. His hair is kind of dirty blond, and he's also got blue eyes. My 17 year old sister ran past me, making sure she had all her homework. Sometimes I feel kind of bad for her... Sometimes. 

When I got to school, my best friends Danny and Fiona welcomed me with a punch as normal. Fiona was tall and had long glossy black hair, while Danny was shorter and had curly blond hair. They both were the craziest people I knew. "Hey guys." I greeted them. "Come on Mac! We're almost late for class, and you know how much Mr. Barkin hates late students!" Danny complained. But he was right. Mr. Barkin was their first period math teacher. He was ok but he was strict on rules and always seemed to single me out. "Alright fine, let's go." I replied. 

 Math was slow and boring, like normal. I just wished something exciting would happen! As if an answer to my wish, CRASH!!! Those super protective unbreakable windows they have in schools were smashed through! Chaos rang out throughout the room as many uniformed men came through the now smashed windows. Mr. Barkin came to me and told me, "Whatever happens, just remember you have Danny and Fiona. Don't forget your gifts!" After that it was all a blur. I couldn't process what he had just said. Whatever happens? What does that mean?  Two of the men grabbed me, and as I looked around, I saw other men had grabbed Fiona and Danny. What happened next, I will never forget.
