Chapter Ten - Will you?
It's that time of the month.
I wouldn't possibly notice but seeing a whole lot of posters can't help me shrug it off.
It's time for the annual prom.
And trust me, I wouldn't have minded. I don't know but the idea of prepping for hours and coming to a school night just to dance and socialize doesn't really peaks my interest.
Alexa Mendez is a different story, though. She's talking about it non-stop. She pretty much likes the idea that the student government changes the theme of Winter Wonderland to Boho Meets Grunge.
I mean, sure. It's not your usual prom but Alex looks forward on attending. It's just two days away, anyway.
"I still don't know whether I should go with bohemian or grunge. It's really difficult to choose!" She sighs, her hand gripping mine while the other on her forehead.
She likes holding hands while I like hugs. Yes, we're kind of clingy.
"Whatever you choose, you'd still look great." I assure her, squeezing her hand and giving her a soft smile before going back to my chemistry assignment that is due later.
"Well, what are you going to choose?" She asks me.
"I told you, whatever's fine for you." I say.
"No, for you. Silly." She chuckles, bringing a stick of chocolatey goodness in my mouth.
Yeah, I love Pepero.
"I don't even think I'm going." I whisper. Not knowing how she would take it.
A. She'd explode
B. She'd overreact
C. Both"WHAT THE HECK DID YOU SAY?" I guess it's letter A then? "YOU ARE A GIRL, DAMN IT. YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY START ACTING LIKE ONE. I KNOW YOU HATE DANCES AND STUFFS LIKE THESE, BELIEVE ME, I DO TOO. BUT I LOOK FORWARD SPENDING SOME QUALITY TIME WITH YOU AND THOSE MORONS ON THAT FREAKING PROM. FOR FUCK'S SAKE, IT'S ONLY ONE NIGHT."
It's C. Damn, I should have known.
Did I say we're in a freaking library?
"You preach, girl." I hear Miss Hope yells followed by a loud chuckle. "That girl does nothing but study and work. Live a little, you little Cutiepie."
And you've thought all librarians are buzz kills.
Miss Hope struts her way over our table, smacks the back of the head of some sleeping kids with a hard-bound book. "This isn't a hotel, you dimwits. Get the hell out." The three students look scared enough and scampers away.
I choke on a laugh, I caught her sleeping on her desk way too many times.
"Hey there, Munchies." She greets us. "What's the fuss all about?"
"She doesn't want to go to the prom." Alex huffs, glaring at me childishly.
"Well, not like I could blame her. Events like that makes me want to throw up." She sits across from Alex and smiles at me. "What's the theme? Let me guess, Winter fucking Wonderland?"
"No, student government changed it to a boho meets grunge style party." Alex sighs.
"Decent enough." Miss Hope nods her head. "Back in my days, we're required to go to a freaking Winter Wonderland themed prom every year. Guess your student government had a pretty sane ones elected."
