Chapter Nineteen - Coffee, Milktea or Frappe anyone?

Four weeks has passed since the official start of the term and I'm already swamped with school works.

Twenty pages journals to be passed here, two interviews to be done there and don't make me start with the hellish quizzes that are sure can make you space out on your seat, cursing every questions you can't answer.

It's hard and hectic but weirdly, I know I'm having fun. I didn't think I'll fall in love with the course sooner than expected. It's really great, actually.

"Best, you with me?" Chase sighs as she pokes me on my cheek, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Of course." I say.

"Yeah, right. What are we even talking about or should I say, what am I even spouting for the past ten minutes as you drift off to lala land?" She challenges, raising her eyebrow at me.

"You were talking about Ronnie." I say confidently. She is, right? I just blocked out everything she's saying as soon as I hear her girlfriend's name. "More like ranting, basically."

What the heck? I thought she wanted to hang out and relax since we're so crammed, we don't even see each other anymore. Even though we're in the same college, I barely see her or Lois anymore.

Sucks because I mainly chose NYU because I wanted to be with them but hell, we've been longer together whwn we're in Last Drop than now.

Turns out she looks like she just want to rant about her relationship with Ronnie.

"I'm sorry, I'm getting annoying." She sighs as she pulls another stick of cigarette from the box that she's carrying.

"Don't smoke." I say. "You've had enough."

"I just had two." She reasons out.

"You just had two when we seated here. How many did you had while waiting for me outside the campus gate and while we're walking?" I huff.

I don't like my friends acquiring lung cancer, thank you very much.

"Fine." She says as she shoves the box inside her black backpack.

I didn't say anything. I just continue staring at a couple of kids happily playing at the see saw, not too far from us.

I sit on the swing, rocking myself back and forth gently. I don't want any spills from my precious mocha coffee. I swear, I live for caffeine these past few days.

I fish my phone from my jeans pocket as I feel it vibrate. Ugh, it tickles.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Hey, bitch." An annoying voice I know too well greets me as I take a sip of my drink. "Where are you? Are you with Chase? Damn it, I'm always being left out."

"We're not leaving you out." I pout even though she can't see me. "It's just whenever we go, you're always unavailable. Besides, this is totally unplanned."

"Whatever."

"It's true. Chase saw me at the library earlier then invited me for a cup of coffee." I explain. "It's coffee, dude. You know how much I like coffee."

"Fine." She huffs. "Where are you guys? I'm free right now and I want some of that coffee."

"We're actually at a nearby playground. How about you choose the coffee shop then we'll meet there?"

"Sounds good." She accepts. "How about Chloe's?"

I inwardly gag, Chloe's is a good milktea shop but their coffer is not as good.
