I wake up suddenly, for no reason, and grunt while I scold my brain for deciding when I can wake up. I look around the room for a while, still dazed from the sleep when I notice another body beside me. I turn my head to see Subaru still sleeping like the baby he is. I chuckle and stroke his hair lightly, feeling jealousy rise within me after realizing how much softer his hair is than mine.
Finally, ready to get up, I begin shaking Subaru gently to wake him up for school. He lets out a small grunt before stretching his body.
"That's the most adorable thing I've seen in months! Good morning, sleepyhead." I pat his head lightly and his eyes widen in surprise. He pouts a little and furrows his eyebrows at my remark before sitting up and stuttering a "good morning" in the process. He ruffles his already messy hair while looking around my room.
"I'll, uh, get ready for school." He sleepy mutters and smiles at me before teleporting away. With a smile of my own, I sit up and stretch my arms above my head, then get out of bed. Within a matter of minutes, I am ready for school and walking down the hallway towards the kitchen when a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders. I turn around, still in the embrace, to see Laito smiling at me.
"Well, hello there, princess." He smiles at me as I roll my eyes, returning the embrace nonetheless.
"Very charming, Laito, very." I boop him on the nose with my index finger and pull away from the hug, continuing my walk to the kitchen. When I hear his footsteps following me, I turn my head lightly and chuckle as I shake my head, knowing exactly what he wants.
"I'll get some macaroons for you, Laito. You don't need to follow me like a puppy." I pat him on the cheek as his eyes light up in joy.
"You're the best!" He hugs me from the side and power walks towards the kitchen. "Come on, Shinju, you need to walk faster than that- even better- teleport there!" He spreads his arms as if he had come up with a genius idea but I only shake my head teasingly, earning a pout from him. Once we both are in the kitchen, I take out a box of macaroons and place a few on a plate for him to devour.
"That's it?" He looks up with a pout and I place my hand on my waist, giving him a sassy expression.
"Yes, that's it. You can get more when you come back from school." I show the box of macaroons as I keep it away so he knows where it is.
"Fine." He whines but eats the macaroons happily when I see Kanato walking through the doorway and into the kitchen while rubbing his eyes, Teddy in his other hand. I walk up to him and fix up his extremely messy hair.
"Good morning, Kanato." I smile down at him and pat his head once I am done fixing his hair.
"Good morning, Shinju." His gaze shifts to Laito, who was still eating his macaroons with delight, and then back at me. "Can you make me a cake for breakfast?" His puppy dog eyes gaze at me as he clutches his Teddy tightly against his chest.
"Maybe not for breakfast, Kanato. I can make you some cake after we get back from school." I cross my arms against my chest and his pout increases.
"You're giving Laito macaroons!" Before I could protest, Laito jumps in the conversation.
"That's because she loves me more!" He argues and sticks his tongue out, making Kanato fume instantly.
"Shut up! I didn't ask you!" Kanato takes a step defensively and goes to punch Laito when I hold him behind.
