Priscillia's pov

***************

"What did Helen said?" Ron asked.

"Oh...what?" I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I had just woken up from my nap and my mind's now a bit fuzzy.

"She said, um, she gave me a magic staff. She told me to use it in the trip. We may leave whenever we want. But it's best to start early." I decided not to tell Ron about what Helen said. Maybe some other time, I thought. Suddenly, my bedroom door flew opened. It crashed against the wall so hard I think it must've cracked. "Oh look! Its the small princess! So, how is your quest going on? Too scared to go?"

I shook my head. "That's not a proper way to put it. It's my first time. Of course I will be feeling a bit nervous. You won't feel anything or course, dear sister. Because you have not been on a quest before."  Heather's face turned bright red. First she glared at me. Then she glared at John.

"Are you...mocking me now? John! Heard what she just said? That was terrible."

"You treated her badly. So I'm not surprised about the rough treatment she gave you." Ron muttered.

"I- Whatever." She grabbed John's arm and marched out of my room. I could hear her muttering something about betrayers as she exit the room.

"You did great." Ron whispered in my ear. "The Gathering was about to begin. We have to be there early."

"Yeah! Can you please let me change first?"

"Sure. I'll meet you at the entrance!"

I got up from the bed and head to the closet. Deciding what to wear is a bother! I wished I could discard all of my clothes into the bin and walk around naked so that I don't have to choose anymore. Sometimes if you wear the same thing, people'll criticize you.

After pondering what to wear for at least fifteen minutes, I choose a blue dress. As I struggled to put it on, I used my right feet to slam the closet doors closed. To save time, I concluded. The dress slid over my head. When I re-adjusted it, my fingers brushed over a smooth pendant just above my chest. The heart pendant is beautiful! I think it is an opal. Should be mum's.

I reached the ballroom just in time to see Ron coming from the other corridor. I waved at him and ran. His face displayed a look of shock and surprise when I crashed into him. "Ha! Didn't expect that, did you?"

"Er...no." He separated me from him awkwardly. I grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the room. The ballroom was packed with people chatting or either drinking champagne.

Helen loved champagne, Ron said as we enter. Many heads turned and gazed at our direction to see who were those two couples. At the far end corner, I could see Helen gesturing for me to join her. "Yes?" I said, tilting my head to one side. Ron stood beside me with a bemused expression. "Now, please...take a seat. I would hate to see you both standing there looking like lost kittens."

"That's because-" I argued.

Helen held up a hand to stop me. "Ah-uh! I know. Please find a seat!"

We sat beside a dark haired girl. She smiled at me. I brushed away a lock of hair that was in my face. "Hi, what is your name?" she asked. She was quite pretty, with curls around her face. She had a few freckles on her face and arms.

"I am Priscillia. You are?"

"Samantha. Call me Sam. People used to joke that I have a boy's name. SAM!! Haha!"

"Haha. Nice to meet you, Sam. You must have known about our quest right?"

Sam nodded. "Yes. I really wanted to go for quests. We don't usually have quests all the time. Only once in a blue moon. We, full witches are very quiet people. Not like those half witches that thought they were a rank higher than us by completing quests."
