Priscillia's pov

***********

"Wake up! Wake up! It's music day. Wake up!" Someone began knocking on my door furiously. I gasped and sat upright, hoping that it's not an earthquake or something. I grabbed the clock on my bedside table and stared at it. What!!! It's only six in the morning. I slid off my bed and grabbed my coat. I pulled it on and shivered.

"What, Maelly? I'm tired!" I rubbed my eyes vigorously, a hand on the knob, pulling the door open. I'm starting to feel dizzy from the lack of sleep. Yesterday, I stayed awake until midnight because I was trying to finish reading a really nice and epic book. There's no way I'll keep it for the next day!

Maelly grabbed my hand and pulled me into the music room. There were many people inside the room. The room was filled with all kinds of music instruments. There's piano, violin, trumpet, viola, timpani, tubular bells, snare drums, bass drums and many more. "What is going on here?" I exclaimed, thinking that they might be preparing for a party or something but when I got a closer look, those people aren't maids but honoured guests. They were busy fidgeting with their instruments, trying to figure out how to use them in the proper way.

Maelly placed both hands on my shoulder and shook it. "It's music day! Come to your senses. We get to play all kinds of instruments. Queen Urvale loves music. So, she makes sure each and everyone in the palace knows how to play music."

"So? What does that got to do with Urvale's love in music?" I asked, not quite getting the current situation.

"So that, we get to play for her when she's bored!" Maelly explained, pulling me towards a piano which was situated near a corner. It was less crowded in here and I was glad for that.

She made me sit on the chair and begged me to play the piano. My body tensed. I had piano lessons before but that was years ago! I'm not sure if I can remember it. "M-Maybe next time?" I stammered, looking at Maelly with a 'please-say-yes' look.

She rolled her eyes and I instantly knew, I failed in acting. "Go on. Play it." She took both my hands and placed it on the keys. My hands hit the surface of the keys a little too hard and it screamed in response. Uh-Oh. Suddenly everyone is looking at me. Gosh, I wasn't trying to attract attention. Maelly held up her hand and made a little gesture. The people in the room began to clap, so loud that my ears hurt. I smiled nervously at them and returned my attention to the piano.

Fragments of memories flashed in my mind. It's about a mother and a child near a piano.

"Darling, listen to your teacher."

Miss Jade smiled at me. She lifted one of my hands to the piano. "It's C. The note beside it is D."

I was eight that time. I frowned in response. I don't understand a word she says. "What?" I whined.

Miss Jade repeated patiently. "The middle C is this one." She gestured to the white key. I pressed a finger on it and it squealed in reply. "Ah!" I gasped, jerking my finger away from the key. "It talks!"

Kristin laughed and patted my head. "It creates a melody when you play. That's the purpose of the sound. Now darling, have fun playing. Your teacher will teach you how to play 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' when you've learnt how to recognize the keys. I'll go and look after Heather. You stay here with Miss Jade."

I nodded and eyed Miss Jade playfully.

The memory ended. Another one appeared and took its place. This one was when I'm older. When I am eleven years old. Miss Jade had already taught me the 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' song.
