The Next Generation

Chapter 5

"Skylar Ray get you butt down here now!" My mom yelled from downstairs. She's been calling me for ten minutes now but I'm not going down there. I'm sick and I'm mad so I just want to stay in bed.

"Skye can I come in?" I heard Hunter on the other side of the door. It was locked so he couldn't get in. I didn't say anything. "Please?" He said. I stayed quiet.

It's been three weeks since my birthday and things haven't gone like I planned. Me and Jackson are no longer together. Kyla and Andrew are still together and Dean and Ella are going through a rough patch. The boys broke up with their girlfriends because they were caught cheating. The girls not the boys. I also caught Jackson cheating with one of Danica's friends. She has been bullying me ever since I broke up with Jackson. It's been two weeks that we broke up and honestly I'm still pissed about it. Coming back to now. I have been sick all weekend and it is currently Monday. That means seeing Jackson and his new girlfriend. So since I'm still sick I plan on not going to school.

"Mom she won't answer the door." Hunter told mom.

"Get your dad. It's useless." She said. I knew that if dad came to talk to me then I would be forced out of my room. He would literally break the door down. I closed my eyes and listened. I heard the door knob jiggling and then my door flew open.

"You know bobby pins really work." I heard Ella say. I heard dad chuckle.

"Skye are you okay?" He asked. I still had my eyes closed so it looked like I was asleep. I felt a hand touch my face. "She has a fever lets just let her sleep." He said and got up from my bed. Once I heard the door close I waited for five minutes before I opened my eyes. I rolled over so I was on my back. I looked around the room and decided that maybe shower would help a little. So I got up and went into my bathroom. I had tear stains on my cheeks and my eyes were red and swollen. I must've cried myself to sleep last night. I turned the hot water on and striped from my clothes. Once I saw the steam coming from the shower I stepped in. At first it burned but I got used to it after the first minute.

I stayed in the shower until the hot water turned cold. I stepped out and wrapped a fluffy towel around me. I forgot to get clothes to change into so I went out to my room to get some. Once I got my sweats and a hoodie I got dressed and went back to my bed. I pulled my phone out and looked at it. I had a message from Hunter. I read it am put my phone up. It just consisted of him telling me he'll get my work. There was a knock at my door. I just laid there staring at my door. When no one walked in I just ignored it.

I was almost asleep when a knock woke me back up.

"Hmm." I said in my 'I'm to lazy to say anything' way. The door opened and I rolled over to see who it was.

"When did you get here?" I asked the person standing beside my bed.

"I just got here. Your mom called and said you've been sick so I decided to come check on you. Since you are home alone." Uncle Jakob said.

"Home alone?" I asked.

"Yeah they had to go to work. So they called me and your mom just left. She waited for me to get here. Now what's wrong?" He asked. He was a doctor so he could hopefully help me.

"A lot." I said rolling back over.

"Like what?" He asked.

"It's just a cold." I told him. 

"Just a cold?" He asked. I nodded.

"I just want to sleep." I told him.

"Okay I'll be downstairs if you need anything just call me. Love you." He said and kissed my cheek. I nodded and he walked out of my room. Before my door ever closed I was out.
