1 Month Later

I was laying in bed, waiting for someone to come and get me for the elder meeting. It's been a month since my lovely mate had been taken from me in the middle of the night. I've tried everyday to contact him through our bond, but nothing happens.

The elders said that they want a meeting with my parents, Jack's parents, and me. I don't know what it's about. If they had found Jack, then I would already be with him, so I know they haven't found him yet.

My bedroom door opened and the four adults walked in. My parents and Jack's parents have been checking up on me everyday and even sit with me for about an hour each day.

"Hey, buddy. Ready to go?" Father asked. I nodded. They helped me stand up since my whole body is weak. Since it wasn't rejection from my mate, I'm not as affected. My parents helped me to the quarter house, which is where the pack elders now live.

We got to the quarter house with some struggle with how weak I am. I sat in a chair with three elders in front of me; Elder Collins, Elder Raphael, and Elder Gee(who is the Head Elder of the Elder Council).

"Matthew, how are you doing?" Collins asked with sincerity in his voice.

"I just want my mate back." I whispered with a sigh. Isaac placed his hand on my shoulder.

"It's been three months, Matthew. We believe that Jack won't be found now." Gee told us.

I shot up, not knowing where the random strength came from. "You cannot say that! That's my mate!"

Dad came over to me and wrapped his arms around me. I started to sob into his shoulder. Elder Gee cleared his throat. "We're so sorry, but we can't keep wasting time looking for someone who is precisely hidden by, probably, hunters."

"Wasting time?" I cried. "Finding my purpose in life is wasting time?" The elders looked down at the ground.

"That's our son. You can't just give up on him!" Oliver yelled. Isaac was wrapped in his husband's arms and that made me feel worse. I did this. I'm the reason they're hurting.

"Matthew?" Father whispered when he saw my labored breathing. I shook my head and Dad set me in the chair. I placed my hand over my chest and shook my head.

"He's having a panic attack." Dad said in fear.
My head was pounding and my hearing was starting to decrease. My chest was burning and I could practically hear my heart beating in my ears.

"He can't breathe." I could hear someone say.
My head was forced between my knees and some air was brought back to my lungs. Sweat was pouring down my face and soaking some parts of my clothing.

I rode out the panic attack with a lot of fear coursing through my blood. "Y-you can't give up on him. He's my life, my purpose. He needs to be saved. I know he's not dead. I know it. You have to believe me. I can feel it. I can feel the faintest sign of his pain, which means he's alive, right?"

I was desperate to get the elders to understand. They can't give up on him. They can't. I need him and I know he needs me. I can't put up with his pain anymore. We need to find him and save him.

"Right?" I asked again, looking at the parents again.

"Right." Elder Raphael said.

"So keep looking. Even if it's only a few people, but I need him. If you want the future alpha of the White Water Pack to die, then stop looking."

The elders exchanged looks and nodded. Elder Collins looked up at me. "Okay, we'll keep looking."

"Thank God." I whispered, shifting in my chair, so the back of my head was against the back of the chair.
