I watched as Jack sketched in his book. I was laying on my side by his feet. He was leaning against the headboard of my bed with his sketchbook up on his knees. I had my biology textbook in front of me, but I was too focused on my mate.
He looked up when he felt my stare. "What?"
"You're just so beautiful." I whispered.
He smiled and went back to his drawing. There was a knock on my door and I called for them to come in. My dads walked in and I sat up. Jack didn't even notice them coming in.
"Can we talk?" Father asked, pulling my desk chair up to the edge of the bed to sit down. Dad stood behind his husband, setting his hands on the top of the chair.
"Yeah, of course."
"In private?" Father asked, looking over at Jack.
I smiled. "He's not listening to us."
Father nodded and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "We just wanted to-"
"I understand what you two mean now. I understand it."
"What?"
"I'm going to be alpha soon. I'm immature with getting mad at the little things. I can't get high anymore and I know that."
"So you're going to stop?" Dad asked.
"Y-"
"We both are." Jack said, looking up at us.
They smiled at him and nodded together. Father cleared his throat. "Good, I'm glad."
"If I get high again, then just know that Jack will be by my side and nothing bad is going to happen."
Dad nodded. "We know. We only care about your safety."
Jack scooted next to me and took my hand. "I told you." He whispered.
Dad smiled to us and I gave him a confused look. "What's up, Dad?"
"I'm so glad that you two are mates."
"You've only been planning for us to be mates for our whole lives." I said, chuckling.
"We've just known." Father said, smiling.
"Alright, we'll leave you two alone for awhile."
I looked over at Jack as they left. He gave me a small smile, kissing me. "Well, that was fun."
I sighed. "Jack, I never said that you had to stop doing weed. I know that you only like it because it gives you a break from your life."
"You're right. It does give me a break, but so do you. Now, that I'm with you, I get breaks too."
I smiled. "Okay, good."
"My parents were trying to get me to stop anyways."
"I wonder why." I said, chuckling.
"I don't get that crazy."
"Okay, so you don't get that crazy when you're high, but you're definitely crazy when you're drunk."
"Well, yeah. I don't have a high alcohol tolerance and I'm a fun drunk."
"Hell yeah, you are. I love it."
"We have to stop drinking too?"
"Yeah, probably. Not all together, just not as much."
"When do you take the reins as alpha?"
"Sometime when I turn 18, I guess. We haven't really set a date. We were gonna do that when I found my mate after I turned 18."
"Well, you found your mate."
