I was standing before my parents with Jack in front of me. My mate and I's hands were bound together with the rope and the whole pack was watching. Alex was standing behind me with his body facing the crowd.

I've been waiting for this day for my whole life; my alpha coronation.

I could tell that Jack was super nervous. He told me before this that he was scared that he was scared that he would say something wrong, so I told him to follow my lead. His hands were gripping mine really hard and I was giving him a warm smile.

"Matthew Justin Laine-Brooks, do you accept the alpha position to protect and lead your pack through everything that may come your way?" Father asked, seriously.

"Yes, Alpha."

"Jack Austin Schemer-Kass, do you accept the alpha position to protect and lead your pack through everything that may come your way?"

"Yes, Alpha." He said, copying my words.

"Matthew, do you promise to protect your pack, even if it means ending your own life?"

"I do."

"Jack, do you promise to protect your pack, even if it means ending your own life?"

"I do."

Father smiled at both of us and Dad's smile hasn't left his face since we started. "I now announce that Matthew and Jack are the newest alphas of the White Water Pack. I, gladly, give up my position."

The wind picked up and the rope tightened on our hands. I wanted to kiss my mate, but I didn't know if I was allowed to. This was a very serious meeting.

The pack started to cheer and Father leaned over to whisper in my ear. "You can kiss him."

I smiled up at the former alpha and leaned in. I connected my lips with Jack's and he smiled into the kiss. He was really happy at this moment and I was glad. His happiness was always my top priority.

The ropes were untied from around our wrists and we walked off the stage. The light turned on that were tangled around the trees. The chairs were moved into our storage building and music played from our speakers.

Alcohol and food were brought out on table and the "VIP" section was created on the stage. Jack and I went into the quarter house, which was empty because the elders were in the courtyard.

"Are you excited?" Jack asked me, cupping my face.

"More than I've ever been."

"I think this is where our lives start." He whispered to me.

"My life started the night you became mine." I said and kissed him.

"Stop being cliché." Jack said, but I knew he loved it by the butterflies that erupted in his stomach. I love that even after all these months of being together, he still gets nervous.

We walked back out into the courtyard. The pack members had brought couches out onto the stage for us. My parents, Jack's parents, Cody, Melissa, and Alex were sitting there.

Father stood up and handed each of us a beer. "You deserve this."

I smiled at him and took a sip from it. Jack sat down next to me and laid his hand on my shoulder. We've been through so much together already and our lives are just beginning.

It started out with being together the day we were born.

Then elementary school.

Middle school.

High school.

Actually finding out that we were meant to be together.

Mating.

Kidnapping.

Getting him back.

Depression and anxiety.

PTSD.

Back to the hunters.

And now. Now, we're here. We're finally alphas and we can finally run this pack together. We're gonna have hard times still, but it'll only go up from here. We'll skip college and go straight to marriage.

That's how we planned it, at least. The Jack I know today isn't the Jack I knew a year ago.

He's brave and confident. He's the love of my life and I couldn't imagine a mate better than him, our parents basically destined for us to be together anyways.

"What're thinking about?" Jack whispered to me.

"Us." I whispered back.

He smiled. "You're so amazing. Thank you for always putting up with me and never leaving me."

I gave him a soft smile and kissed his cheek. "I love you so much. I will never, ever leave you."

"I love you too." He whispered.

"So are you two excited?" Alex asked us.

"We're really excited." Jack said, gripping my hand.

"Are you?" I asked Alex.

"I am. It'll be even better when I find my mate."

"I can't wait to meet him." I told my beta.

"I can't either."

"Okay, so I don't want to ruin the night, but Jack and I are going to go back home. We just want some time alone, is that okay?" I asked my parents and Jack's parents.

"That's perfectly fine, Alpha." Father said and I gave him a huge smile.

"Night!" Everyone said to us as we left.

Once we got into my bed, I wrapped my arms around him. "We've done so good with everything we've had to endure throughout this past year."

"Hopefully, we'll never have to deal with something worse." Jack said.

"Even if we do, we'll stick together."

He smiled at me and connected our lips. "I love you, baby."

"I love you too."

He sighed and we fell asleep together as the newest alphas of the White Water Pack.
