It was quiet. Near silence. The house was never this quiet. Marth glanced suspiciously around the empty room. Every fighter lived here, and a room this close to the kitchen would never be empty. Where was Yoshi or Ganon, or any of the others? He didn't know Kirby ever actually left the kitchen. They couldn't all be a smash, and only Falco had announced his vacation.
He stood, walking to the hallway in which some of the bedrooms were. He first opened the door to the room he and Ike shared, to see if Ike had simply exausted himself out again. No luck. The next door was Pit and Toon Link's. Marth knocked a few times and waited for a response, when he received none, he swung the door open and stepped in.
Pit and Toon Link's room was always one of his favourites. The kids had spent months painting it. Toon Link had painted a forest at around the room, it was a bit comforting, and clearly riminded Toon Link of home. If you looked up, it was sky. The roof and some of the wall were painted like Skyworld, Pit's home. It was incredible, and shockingly enough, both boys definitely knew their way around a paint brush.
Marth smiled and walked in a few steps more, fixing the covers of Toon Link's bed, he stepped away from the bed and accidentally kicked something. He cursed in J (G)apanese, and leaned down to pick it up. It was Toon Link's sword. Marth suddenly felt sick but did his best to hide it. He turned and looked at Pit's bed, sure enough, Pit's bow was lying there.
The kids never left without their weapons. Zelda had scolded them many times about not carrying something to protect themselves with, and after they got attacked once, they didn't mess up again.
Marth let Toon Link's sword fall to the ground with a loud clash. He ran out of the room and to the next door, then the next, empty. They were all empty. He was panicking slightly, this was a prank. It was all to mess with him, it had to be. He paused for a moment a sighed in relief when he reached the door to the training room. He could hear the familiar sound of Ragnell being swung through the air.
Marth turned the doorknob and swung the door open just in time to see Ike shoved back into the wall and Ragnell fall to the floor. Ike grunted in pain and sunk down to the ground. A strange creature stood a few feet away from Ike. It looked nearly human, only shadows swirled around it and it's skin looked as if it was cut from the night sky. It had claws made of silver and eyes like the red embers of a dying flame.
Marth pulled his sword from it's sheath and ran between the creature and Ike. He swung his sword through the air, trying to keep the creature at bay. The creature hissed and seemingly imploded on itself and turned into thousands of little particles, then reappeared at Marth's side, hitting Marth with its claws, causing him to get pushed back as well.
Marth found himself next to Ike. He could barely move, he had hurt something. Marth reached out and took Ike's hand in his own. If they were going down. They were going down together. The creature slowly paced around the two boys, backing away slowly. Marth felt Ike's hand slowly fading away, and quickly realized what was happening. This creature could minipulate particles, and it was taking Ike away from him. Marth cried out and tried desperately to help him, but he was paralyzed, and Ike was gone. Marth's vision started to become dark around the edges and he quickly slipped into unconsciousness.
*************
When Marth regained cousciousnes the sky was dark and the room was cold. He forced himself to his feet, pain shot down his back and he wimpered slightly, leaning against the back wall. He closed his eyes, forcing himself to relax for a moment before trying to walk. Everyone was gone. Everyone except him... Why didn't the creature take him too? What was it? He pushed off the wall and picked up Falchion, sliding it into its sheath. He knew where to find out what that creature was. Marth reached down and picked up Ragnell, holding the golden blade flat in his hands. He turned his head and closed his eyes. Please be okay.
He walked out of the training room and back to his bedroom, laying Ragnell on Ike's bed. He walked from the room and closed the door softly.
When he wasn't rushing, it became more clear that something wasn't right. There were items lying on the floor that he knew no one would leave without. Princess Peach's crown, Fox's blaster, Kirby's hammer, Link's bow... He returned each item to the owner's bed. Everyone was missing something important. When he had finished returning everything to it's proper room, he returned to his room and started to get his gear. This was a quest now. He was going get him back, all of them back and kill the beast that dared to hurt them.
Marth pulled the chest out from under his bed and pushed open the cover, pulling out a few things he thought he would need, then returning the chest to it's hiding spot. His eyes caught Ike's blade, Marth immediately turned away. When he found Ike... If he found Ike... He must return Ragnell to him, it only seemed proper, right? He turned back to it and ran his fingers along the blade, then carefully picked it up. He would never admit this out loud, but he envied Ike for being able use Ragnell, especially with one hand. It was clear that it was meant to be a two handed sword, and even then, it was impressive. Marth quickly set it back down and turned to the door. No. He couldn't take it, besides, Ike still had its sheath, and there was no way he would use it, he had a little more respect than that.
He turned the doorknob and pulled the door open, hesitating for a moment before bolting back into the room and grabbing a piece of cloth and wrapping Ike's sword in it and tying a rope to each end, he slipped the rope over head and concealed the weapon behind his cape. Surely... He would find Ike soon. Marth ran from the room and down the hallway. First things first, he would figure out what that creature was, and more importantly, how to make sure it never attacked anyone again...
And that's that! What do you guys think so far? Love it? Hate it? I always appreciate a lovely comment from you dudes. The next chapter will be a little different from this one. It's going to be in Ike's point of veiw. This is a Super Smash Bros Brawl fanfic so there will be a bit of jumping around, but I'll try and keep everything as clear as possible. For those of you who aren't diehard Fire Emblem fans, Falchion is Marth's sword and you probably should have figured this out but Ragnell is Ike's sword. The picture tagged in this chapter is a fanart of Marth. I'll be keeping the chapters pretty short like this one, but I'll try and update often. I'm pretty good with that.
