12: Safe and Sound

October 21, Saturday, 2:00 am, Magnolia Hospital

Lucy's POV
I woke in the hospital again.

I looked around me...

"My... Old night light?" I ask myself.
I had a night light in the shape of a star. It was given to me by my mother.
But how could it get here? The last place I remember it being is in... My mansion.

I looked around me again, and on one of the chairs was Sting. He was fast asleep. And resting his head on my legs was Natsu, who was also asleep.
But then..?

"Lucy! You're awake!" A familiar voice said.

"Dad?!" I yell.

He ran over to hug me.

"But-" I was cut off.

"Sting told me what happened. I just couldn't bear the thought of losing you. I know sorry won't cut it, but please forgive me." Dad started crying.

I hugged him back and smiled.

We talked while the others are still sleeping.

Just because I'm mad at him, he's still my dad, and I love him.

"Lucy, you remind me so much of your mother. Beautiful, kind, and a bit of a hot head!" Dad laughed.

I asked him about mom, and he told me about her.

"You should go back to sleep Lucy. I promise that I'll still be here when you wake up." Dad smiled at me.

He sang Lateeya as I drifted off to sleep.

8:30 am

I woke up again. I looked around to see if Dad was still here, and he was.
Natsu was wide awake too.

"Luce!" Natsu laughs as he hugs me.

I hugged Natsu back and laughed with him.

"Sting's getting Chinese take out. He'll be back shortly." Dad says

I nodded my head and smiled.

Natsu let go and stared at me.
I could kiss him right now, I really could. But, it wouldn't be right. I can't just kiss him because he saved me. Because other people helped too.

You want to kiss him.

No I don't!

Liar.

Shut up!

I had mini argument with myself.

"Oh, right! Luce, I made a poem for you!" Natsu smiles.

I could skip a heartbeat, and I would survive,
I could be in a car crash, and still be alive.
The clouds could fall out of the sky,
The oceans could disappear, and all turn dry.

These things in life are all bad I know,
but there's far worse things,
just thought you should know.

Life would not be the same without someone like you,
You're there when I need you to help me through.
Through the good times and through the bad,
Be them happy, or be them sad.

I don't have to be with you, to know you're there,
We don't have to see each other, to know that we care.
We could be apart for years upon end,
and still remain the best of friends.

Life goes on, and people change,
And through it all, our friendship shall remain the same.
That's such as a life, and how things come to be.
Just thought you should know,
how much you mean to me.

Tears started forming in my eyes.
That was beautiful...

"Gray told me to gather my thoughts. Did you... Like it?" Natsu blushes.

"I... Of course..." I say in between my tears.

He made me cry again, but this time, it's tears of happiness.

I hug Natsu as I wipe my tears.
Over at the other side of the room, I see dad smiling at me.
Just by his look, I could tell that he was proud of me for finding people that care so much about me.
This, is what mom would've wanted.

You love Natsu

Hm.

You've admitted it before, now just tell him.

I can't.

But he LOVES you too. You two were meant for each other!

No. He's my best friend, I can't do that to him. I can't just bring up a sudden confession.

Then just say "I love you" and get it over with.

I can't. I just can't.

Are you stupid?! Do you know how many girls are dying to be with him?! You're wasting a golden opportunity!

Do you know how many hearts he broke? This isn't a golden opportunity. Now shut up.

We may be the same person, but we will forever be different.

I let go of Natsu as he walks to a chair beside me.

"Lucyyyy! I'm back with Chinese food!~" Sting sings as he enters the room with Yukino and Levy.

"Good morning!" I smile at them.

"We would've been back earlier, but Levy and Yukino wanted a bagel so we stopped at Tim Hortons." Sting complains as Yukino and Levy start laughing. I laugh with them too as Sting handed me a pair of wooden chopsticks and food.

"Eat up, kiddo." Sting smiles.

"It's so nice to see you smile, Lucy." Erza says as she enters the room with Juvia.

"What are you two doing here so early?" I ask them.

"Something wrong with visiting our brave bestie?" Juvia smiles.

"Lucy... I'm so sorry for all the things that my sister did to you." Mira says sadly as she enters the room.

"That doesn't matter now. What matters is that Lucy's here, safe and sound." Natsu stands up.

Mira walks over to me and bows.

"I'm... So sorry! I didn't know that she was like this! Nor did I even know that she had a boyfriend. I'm truly sorry!" Mira starts crying.

"Mira... Please don't cry. And please don't apologize either, it isn't your fault. You had no idea, and that's not wrong." I smile at her.

Mira smiled and exited the room. She says that she's helping with some community clean up or something.

I thought about Natsu's words.
Safe and sound huh.
