November 11, Friday, 4:30 pm, Remembrance Day, Lucy's house

Lucy's POV
"Lucy... You ready to go?" Sting softly knocks on my door.

"Yeah..." I say sadly as I head down stairs with Sting.

It's that time of the year again. The day where we celebrate the lives of the dead. Tch.

"Lucy..." Mavis gives me a sad look.

I knew she felt bad for me, but I feel even worse for her.
After all, my mom was one of her two sisters.

"Auntie I-" I wanted to apologize for the loss of her sister.

"It's alright Lucy, it wasn't your fault." Aunt Mavis comforts me.

I asked Levy to take care of Plue, so he won't be all alone while we're visiting mom.

Dad was already in the car. He thought that we should all go in the same car. So we arrive as a family.

I stepped into the car, taking the right window seat as Sting took the left and Yukino took the middle seat.
Dad handed aunt Mavis a picture of our last family reunion. Where Sting and I were kids, and where was was still alive.
He started the car and drove out of the driveway and onto the street.

The car ride was silent, which was unusual since my family is quite loud. Especially Sting and Aunt Mavis.

"What... Do you think mom's saying right now..." I softly ask.

"I think she'd be happy. Dad's changed, I'm married, Aunt Mavis is a principal, and you're happy." Sting smiles.

"Layla was a good sister, really annoying too. Just like you, Sting." Aunt Mavis smirks mockingly at Sting.

I soon caught on that this was an attempt to make dad happy. Yukino did too, so we played along.

"Short tempered old lady!" Sting yells.

"Air head!" Mavis yells back.

"Subatomic shrimp!" Sting yells.

"Goldielocks!" Aunt Mavis yells.

"Yukino... Did you know that your hair makes you look like an old lady?" I smirked, hinting at her to play along.

"ExCUSE ME?! At least I don't have fringy hair!" Yukino yells. She smiled and winked, saying that she'll play along.

We went back and forth at each other, eventually causing dad to burst out laughing.

4:50 pm

Dad finally parked the car.
We had mom's grave in a secluded area in the cemetery. We thought that she would like some peace and quiet for her long sleep.

"Layla... Wherever you are, are you happy? Is god treating you well?" Dad touches her gravestone.

"I finally understood what you were telling me. And because of that, I'm now a different man." Dad smiles.

"I love you, Layla." Dad kisses her gravestone and walks away.

Aunt Mavis walked up to her gravestone and knelt down, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"It's always a competition between us, isn't it? You were always first... First during races, eating contests, first born, and first dead. Y-You're so annoying... But no matter what, we always looked out for each other. All 3 of us. Layla, I miss you." Aunt Mavis says as she continues crying.
She sat down on a bench and wiped her tears.

Yukino stepped up next.

"Mrs. Heartfilia, your son was the best thing to ever happen to me. Th-Thank you for giving life to Sting, and to Lucy. Th-Thank you so much!
I-I wish we could've spent more time together, but not everything goes according to plan, now doesn't it?" Yukino says as she starts to tear up.

She ran to me, and I comforted her as Sting stepped up next.

"Hey mom... So I really miss you. I really really really miss you. I-I miss you calling me your little bee, and then cuddling me of I had a bad day." Sting says as he starts to cry.
He walked away, trying not to make a scene.

I was next.
I took a deep breath and stepped up.

"Mom... Are you proud of me? I have all these great friends, all these great memories... And my family. I k ew that you wouldn't want me to grieve over you, so I stayed positive. Well, I tried to stay positive. I-I miss you so much! It's not the same without you!" I say as I cried.
I cupped my hands onto my face as I knelt down, placing my forehead onto her gravestone.

Then, a gust of wind passed by.
"Everyone, thank you so much." I heard the wind say.
It's as if mom was here with us. Thanking us for being her family.

The wind quickly disappeared.
Like mom only had a few seconds to talk to us from another world.

"Did you hear-" Sting was cut off.

"Mom?" I asked.

Sting nodded and smiled.

We placed our candles and flowers by her gravestone and left quietly.

It was another quiet car ride, until Yukino asked a question.

"Hey Lu, who's aunt Mavis's third sister?" Yukino asks me.

"Oh, her name is Dimaria. She's the youngest out of the three, with my mom being the oldest." I tell her.

"Where is she?" Yukino asks.

"Well, she's always traveling, so probably somewhere incredible." I answer as I smiled.

"What was she like?" Yukino asks again.

"She was annoying too. She was always focusing on martial arts and strategies. People called her the war princess." Aunt Mavis smiles.

"I'll never forget the day that she broke my uncle because I hugged Layla." Dad laughs.

"She never really did apologize to you for that." Aunt Mavis giggles.

"One time, I called her Dima!" Sting blurts out.

"What did she do?" Yukino asks with concern.

"I got one of her death slaps." Sting says as he slouched.

"Our parents had nicknames for us.
Dimaria, the war princess.
Mavis, the tactician.
Layla, the golden princess." Aunt Mavis giggles.

Dad drive into the garage and parked.

We all stepped out of the car and headed inside my house.

I miss you, mom.

Author's note:
Dimaria looked like Lucy with the blonde hair and brown eyes, so I made her Lucy's aunt :^).
