My alarm clock goes off, making it almost impossible to go back to sleep. I groan and get up, slamming my fist onto the noisy box. I turn around and fall face first back onto my bed. I hear my mom making noise downstairs.
"Kaitlyn! Get up! You can't be late for your first day!" She calls from downstairs. I groan at her and get up, walking over to my mirror I look at my face. I look like complete shit. My hair is going every other direction and you can tell I was drooling in my sleep. I look at my alarm clock and decide I have enough time to either eat and put on whatever or look nice and eat a fruit bar on the way to school. I choose the latter and head to the bathroom. I comb my hair so that it at least looks tamed and put on my eyeliner. I'm not like most girls who use actual store bought eyeliner, instead I use a sharpie and make it look as real as I can. Plus that makes it easier to just fix rather than putting it on everyday. After that I head back to my room and put on a dress, it's a light red dress with lace at the bottom and a sweetheart neckline. I look in the mirror and decide my hair still looks like shit, I grab a hair tie and put it in a messy bun. I grab my bag and head downstairs to the kitchen.
"Decided to finally get up, didja?" My dad teases, sipping at his coffee. I'm lucky to live in such an odd family, being an only child my entire life I got to know my parents as who they were before a child. One is nothing, after that, then you start to change.
"Yes, daddy, I did get up! It's the first day of senior year! I gotta try for my final year! I gotta look good!" I say, giving him a cheeky grin. I grab a banana and head for the door, giving him a kiss on the cheek for a dramatic exit.
"Have fun, sweetheart." He says, laughing. I head out the door and get into my car. I notice someone across the road coming out of their house. I think that's the house that just got sold, must be the new neighbor. His hair's a mess, he's wearing a suit and his tie is done up all wrong. He looks like he's in a rush. I smile and back out of the driveway, I begin to drive down the road in the direction of the school. I watch him as he gets into his car, forgetting his coffee on top, I watch as he drives away, letting it roll off. I laugh to myself.
"Poor guy." I say, still laughing.

I get to the school and park in the student lot, grabbing my bag as I get out. I start walking towards the building when I see a car rushing into the teachers lot. I stop and watch as the man gets out. It's the same man I saw earlier. I stop and watch him stress over his spilled coffee, remembering that he left it on his car. I begin to walk over to him when my friend Julia pulls me aside.
"Well hello, fellow senior!" She smiles at me, hugging me close to her.
"Hey, Jules. You see that guy over in the teacher lot?" I point over at him and see him pulling out a briefcase from the trunk.
"Ooh, is that the new Engineering teacher?! He's hot!" She exclaims.
"Jules. I'm the one in engineering. Not you!" I smile and pull her towards the school. God I hope he's the new engineering teacher. She's right, he's hot.
