Chapter 21- Kayla

We sat there for what felt like forever. Everything had taken me by surprise.

We finally broke apart.

"I'm sorry Nathan." I apologized. He pulled me into a hug.

"It's all okay."

That night we all went out to eat. We got a booth, me and Nathan sat next to each other across from Evangeline and Toby.

"So, I figured out why Toby has been watching me for the last couple days." Evangeline said. I could feel Nathan stiffen next to me. What's going on?

"Why?" I ask.

"He's been wanting to ask me to be his girlfriend! He just hasn't had the guts to actually do it." She threw her arms around Toby and squeezed him tightly. I grabbed Nathan and pulled him outside.

"What's going on? Why is Toby just now starting to watch over Evangeline like a hawk?" I press. Concern dripping from my tongue. Nathan pulls me close to him, just to the point of his forehead touching mine.

"I had to tell Toby about Eva, okay? He needed to know, and he's the only one who can watch over her to make sure she doesn't find out the truth." He said, his thumb brushing over my cheek.

"Okay, just next time, please inform me when you tell people something like that." I say as we walk into the restaurant again. We sit down and the waiter came over to us. We all ordered food and say there in silence for a while. Our food eventually came and we ate. We talked for a while and then we headed back to the hotel.

The next day

I woke up to the smell of eggs and pancakes, Evangeline.
"I MADE BREAKFAST!!"

The boys dashed down to the kitchen while I just walked. Evangeline was wearing one of those stupid 'kiss the cook' aprons, so Toby went over and placed a small peck on her lips.

"I am not kissing you, Eva." I say, grabbing a plate of pancakes and eggs.

"Neither am I." Nathan said, doing the same. After we finish eating Nathan asks. "So, has anyone found out anything on the whereabouts of the target?" We all shake our heads no.

" I don't think it's very safe out there yet, someone may be after us. Especially after what happened to me." I say.

"Well then, I have a whole days worth of activities we could do today!" Evangeline says excitedly, I roll my eyes.

"What should we do first?" Toby asks.

"We shall start with 20 questions, then truth or dare." Really? That's not cliché at all.

"Let's begin, who's oldest?" Nathan raises his hand.

"Ok, what's your favorite color?" Eva asks.

"Red, Toby, how many girlfriends have you had?" Nathan asks, Eva's gaze darkens.
"None. Well, before Eva at least." Evangeline softens up when he says that.
We go one for a while until everyone is on their last question.
"Kayla, do you have a boyfriend?"

"I am not answering that question." I say, waving my hands.

"Oh come on! At least have you had a boyfriend before?" Eva pushes.

"Yes, one."

"Who!?!?"

"Nope, not gonna say," I say stubbornly. Evangeline groans. I look over at Nathan, he's staring at me. I look away quickly.

That night I am sitting in my room alone again. I sit wearing my glasses and some comfy clothes on my computer. I hear a knock on my window. What?

I slip off my bed and walk over to it. Nathan is practically dangling off the side of the house by a thread.

"What the?" I say pulling him inside the room. "What are you doing?"

"I wanted to come see you." He says, giving me a small kiss.

"Ok," he pulls me back towards the window. "What are you doing?"

"I am taking you out, on well.... A date."

"What!"

We make it to the secret place he brought me. It's a small little meadow. There's a pond and a forest around it. It's beautiful.

There was a small blanket sitting right by the pond. Nathan brought me over to it and we both sat down. We talked for a long time, and it was pretty enjoyable.

We eventually just ended up laying with each other. Soon after that I drifted to sleep, but before I did I could hear Nathan say,

"I love you, Kayla. I love you from the moon and back."
