Chapter 44- Kayla

Evangeline showed me to the training room, I poked and prodded through her emotions a little bit along the way. She should know by now that I've known Luke for way longer than she has, he doesn't do partners. Except for me.

I quickly nodded an began to work..

After I got done in the training room I headed back to my room, but before I could  make it I overheard Eva and Luke speaking again. I made some noise to alert them that someone was here. 

I have a plan...

I head back to my room, fully aware that Evangeline is close behind me. I force myself to start breathing heavily, and I break out into a sprint to my room. I slam my door shut and head to my computer.  

I press the record video when I hear a faint sliding noise on the ceiling, signaling Eva had come.

'Hey, it's Kayla. I guess you could say I'm in a little bit of trouble here. Three weeks ago I was given a mission, a mission to kill someone I held very dear to my heart. I have loved him for such a long time, even if  he had killed someone else I loved.'  I took a deep breath, tears forming in my eyes. 'I was told to kill him. At first, all that I could think a both was getting the job done, I wanted him dead. But now,'  I pause, refusing to let the tears fall down my face. 'I can't kill him. I just got him back, and maybe, he didn't kill my mom for some stupid reason. Maybe he wanted to save me from sign married to some man I don't know? How should I know? I just, I can't kill him.  I can't...'

The last two words come out in a breath, I turn off the computer and wipe the tears away, if that doesn't convince her. Then I don't know what will...

I was brought out into a large room, what I guessed was a makeshift throne room. Lucas was in there, and Evangeline was standing in a corner. 

I was told to sit next to Luke, but I simply lean onto the wall. 

"Luke what's going on?" I ask. But he doesn't need to answer, three men are dragging two people into the doorway. And those people are Nathan, and Toby. My breath hitches, they shouldn't be here. Nathan and Toby are thrown to the ground. I hide myself in the shadows. 

I can see Nathan looking at me with pain in his eyes. If only he knew why I was here...
