Chapter 47 - Nathan

Kayla. It was Kayla, not Eva, Kayla was the traitor. She dragged Evangeline into this, all of the lies...Kayla was the evil. All trust that I had left me when I saw Kayla in the large thronish room. Sure Evangeline was there, but she looked reluctant, unlike Kayla in every way.

Kayla was ashamed, but she made no attempt to explain. No attempt to stop Lucas. Here me and Toby were, tied up.....who knows where. All I remember is Lucas capturing us and being placed in that room. The room with Kayla cowering in the shadows, Eva slumped down in a chair. Then some words being said, before we were shoved and pushed and knocked out. Then awoken in this dull room with our hands and legs tied.

"Any plan yet?" Toby asks.

"No."

"We have to stop them.." He chuckles a little. "Who would've thought that we'd be tied up because we fell for some girls. What has this world come to?"

"Yeah, we need to step up our game a bit Toby. Remember when it was just you and me, we beLived ourselves to be the best in the agency. Never thought that teaming with some petty girls would end up like this, sure we thought our team would be weak, but not like this." I say sighing.

The door clicks open and in steps Kayla. Last person I want to see right now.

"Look at my face Nathan, I can't let you go if your just going to turn around and stab me in the back."

"Like you did to me." I say disdainfully.

"N-Yes." I meet her eyes with a glare. I see the pain and sadness in her eyes and it makes me melt slightly. Kayla doesn't show her emotions easily.

"Wow, you didn't even try to lie about it." My voice is full of venom.

"There's no point to." She says and whispers something else inaudible. I watch as she walks over and sticks a note in my hand with a knife through it. Then she just leaves. I unfold the note and read.

Dear Nathan,

By the time you've read this, I may not be there. I'm going to kill Luke, but if I die before then, kill Evangeline as well. She's come here not for the mission, but to be one of his puppets.

I'm here to end this reign, and kill Luke. I have no feeling left for him. I have no feelings at all. Please, I've only said and done the things I have to protect you and Toby. I can't let him know I know you, then he will most definitely kill you both.

I love you Nathan, I always have. Since the day I met you I felt something towards you, besides annoyance. I hope you can find a way to love me again...please.

I hand it to Toby when I'm done and cut the ropes with the knife.

"I didn't realize she could be this sappy." Toby says.

"Yeah well, at least she left this." I say holding up the knife and cut his ropes.
