Chapter 13
"You... Wait - What?!" I exclaimed, eyes widening in shock and surprise as the news settled upon me. Chris steadied me with his arm, placing his fingers over mine, and using the other hand to grasp my waist tightly around him. I gulped, and looked at everyone at the breakfast gathering. My father... Was a werewolf.
A freaking werewolf.
As in, howling at night, shifting, Alpha business, and what not.
I think I've finally gone mad.
"Dad... You're not joking, are you?" I asked worriedly, and Chris's fingers tightened around mine even tighter than before.
Unfortunately, my father shook his head, and my mom looked down at her feet. Looking away from me. No wonder they were busy 'catching up' last night.
Oh my gosh...
Then it dawned on me.
My dad was so over-protective of my mom, and they were deeply, madly in love with each other, but then my dad became the Alpha of his pack, and had to move away... Then he returned, and his friends here were probably his members of the pack... But why did my mom lie to me? Why did she say that my dad was away for business? Did she mean pack business, or...? "I'm a werewolf, sweetheart. I thought you knew about this, but apparently, I thought wrong."
My mom held onto my father's hand gently, as he looked down lovingly at her.
My parents were soul mates.
"But you did know about werewolves. Just not us," he continued, choosing his words carefully.
"I did know about werewolves," I said, wondering how I even managed to get my voice back. "Just not you and your pack, dad."
Chris's arm around my waist loosened a little.
"And you and mom are mates," I mused. "And I think I've found mine as well," I stated, looking at Chris, and he beamed with joy.
My dad frowned.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing. It's just that... Has he claimed you yet?" My dad asked nonchalantly.
I immediately turned bright red. "Dad! What? No - no!" I stuttered.
My mom rolled her eyes. "Okay, honey, we believe you," she said, sarcasm dripping on every word she said.
"We haven't... Mated yet!" I exclaimed, embarrassed.
Chris just chuckled and squeezed my fingers.
"Right, you haven't," my mother said, smiling. "Mom!" I rolled my eyes. "It's true, dear. She hasn't mated with her mate yet," my father stated, frowning once again.
"Dad, stop frowning. It makes you look older," I said, and the other people around me snickered. Whoa... I completely forgot that we had an audience here. He scoffed. "As if."
