Chapter 32
I was nudging Eddie by my side to wake up. And I was nudging him gently, so no one could see the gesture. He smiled and opened one eye. He was forming an idea in his head, so he opened his eyes slowly. "Shh," he whispered, and I looked up. Maya was talking to one of the guards, and she left briskly, walking away quickly.
The guard then proceeded to watch us, walking around us. It felt like the world was spinning around us, and I shut my eyes.
Eddie then stopped breathing beside me. I froze. Was he... no, he couldn't be. Just a few seconds ago he was fine. Maybe he was faking it. Yes, he was probably faking it. As part of the plan. I nudged Eddie, and he smiled as a sign to prove that he was alive.
I cleared my throat then. "Excuse me, could you give me a glass of water, please? I am thirsty," I said, and it wasn't because of the plan. I was really thirsty. The burn was in my throat, and I felt hungry, cold, thirsty, and dirty.
The guard raised a brow, and got out a bottle of water from his pocket or something. I have no idea where he put the drink in. I don't wanna find out.
He put the bottle to his lips, and slowly drank it, mocking me. I scowled at him, and looked down. Oh, come on Chris. Please hurry.
I really hope that Chris would come and save me.
And then I glanced at Eddie. He was acting unconscious, and breathing through his mouth slowly, and quietly. Time to put the plan in action.
I cleared my throat.
The guard looked at me, and raised a brow again.
"Um, I think the guy beside me is not breathing," I said sincerely, and nudged Eddie. He didn't move, and he stopped breathing for a moment.
"See?" I said, and frowned.
It was all an act.
The guard was skeptical, and walked over slowly. He was watching our every move, like a predator stalking his prey.
Eddie continued breathing slowly and quietly, but not visibly. I couldn't even tell if he was still breathing or not.
Finally, the guard came and got out a knife. "No use for him then," the guard smiled evilly, and placed the knife at Eddie's throat. Shit. I didn't expect him to do this!
Suddenly, the door burst open, and in came Chris and the gang. I kicked the guard's knee, and a sickening crack was heard as he fell to the ground, the knife beside him. Chris quickly ran over to me, and grabbed the knife the guard dropped and cut open the rope I was tied in.
I got the knife from Chris and un-did Eddie's rope as well. He got up from the chair, and Chris kicked the guard where the sun didn't shine.
Chris then grabbed the knife from me and placed the knife slowly in the guard's heart. No time to waste. "Bye, bye," I said sweetly to the guy on the ground, and pulled out the knife slowly. We all searched for weapons we could use for defending ourselves.
We found several items and split them equally between us.
"Come on, let's go before Maya catches us," I said, and then I remembered. What about Jake?! "Shit," I swore under my breath.
"What's wrong?" Chris asked.
"Jake. Maya captured him," I said, and Chris swore. "Well, what now?" Chris said, and sighed. "You guys go. Chris and I will find him. Unless you want to go as well?" I said, and Chris shook his head. "No. I'm sticking by you forever," he said, and promised.
