Chapter 23

We stopped about two hours later at another gas station, and I got out with Chris. "Okay. Spill. Why are you so grumpy all of a sudden?" I asked, and he kissed me lightly.

     "I'm sorry," he sighed.

"It's just that... when Jake said he loved you... I thought he meant that he really loved you. And seeing you after, laughing and talking, made me wanna kill him, and - " I silenced him with a kiss on his luscious lips.

"You don't need to be jealous. And besides, I love you, not him," I said, and he nodded, kissing my lips again.

I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, and he lifted me up, his fingers grazing the back of my thighs. He pressed me against the wall, and I shuddered under his touches. "Chris... we have to get back to them. More blood hounds will be after us if we don't get going soon. I think we're in their territory," I said.

"Mm... we can take them down," he said, continuing his journey down to my throat, and his teeth grazed my collarbone.

"Stop it," I protested and giggled.

"Guys! Stop making out and get your asses back here!" Jake called out, and Jonah whacked him playfully.

I laughed. "See? Come on, let's go," I said, and walked back to the car, with Chris holding my hand.

"I guess you both made up, huh?" Maria asked, and I chuckled.

"I guess so. I mean, that kiss was proof, I think..." I said, and Maria giggled.

"So I guess it's my turn to drive?" I asked.

"I think so. Ask them," Maria jerked her head towards Chris and the guys. "Hey! Is it my turn to drive yet?" I asked them, and Chris nodded. "Yup, it is. Be careful. Maybe there will be more blood hounds," Josh said in a mock worried voice. I rolled my eyes and got in the car.

Once everyone was inside, I started to drive. I sped all the way on the highway. I laughed as I looked at everyone's expression on their faces. Some horror, shock, and afraid.

     I shook my head.

"Guys, I'm not going to kill everyone," I said, and Chris shook his head in disbelief. "Where did you learn to drive like that?" He asked, with wide eyes .

"Uh, my mom? She drives like a maniac too," I joked, and Rachel swallowed. "Della, you need to slow down," she said.

"Why are you guys so worried? Don't you trust my driving skills?" I pouted, and started driving again. Chris held on to the seat for his dear life.

I rolled my eyes and turned on the radio. "Attention, breaking news," the DJ said on the news. I frowned, and turned the volume out louder.

"This news just came on a few hours ago, and everyone's still talking about it. Near the border between here and Italy, the police went to investigate a crashing noise coming from the woods, and found ashes of a dead animal there. Apparently, the supernatural investigators said that it wasn't possible for a human to kill the unknown creature, and maybe an animal, like a cheetah, leopard or tiger could have killed the unknown animal," the DJ continued.
