Chapter 24
Okay, so there are things in life where you are just mind-blown, or astonished, or suprised. Me? I was astounded by the marvelous sight before me. I think my jaw dropped to the ground. "Welcome to Italy," Chris breathed, and laced his fingers with mine. Snowflakes lightly fell upon us, gentle and welcoming. I smiled. "Italy," I breathed out, and pulled the jacket tighter against me.
Chris's fingers tightened around mine.
I smiled and held his fingers back tightly.
I would be starting a new life here, in Italy.
"First things first. We have to find a hotel or something," Maria said, and Josh wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Hm... maybe we could stay in a hotel for awhile, then go and find an apartment," Jake suggested.
"Yeah I think we should," I agreed, Chris nodding his head along, and Rach and Jonah were wrapped up in throwing snowballs at each other.
"SNOWBALL FIGHT!" Jake annoucned, and quickly threw one at Chris. I laughed at him, and he growled, quickly gathering one in his hands. He stalked towards me like I was a prey and he was the predator. I squealed and cowered behind Rachel as she tried to throw a snowball at Jonah.
"Throw it at Chris please!" I said, and ducked behind Rachel as she tried to move away from Chris. "Ha! Take that!" Rachel sneered at Chris.
"You! How dare you! You'll pay for this!" Chris bellowed playfully, throwing one at Rachel. She dodged easily, but failed on the second attempt. "Girls and boys in split teams! Let's see who takes each other out first!" Jake yelled, and the girls all scattered away together, leaving the boys behind.
"Okay. Maria and me, and well, Della, you're on your own," Rach said apologetically. "What? Why?" I pouted. I certainly didn't want to be stuck alone with all the other guys prying around us!
"You're a big girl. You can handle yourself," Rach said, and petted my shoulder.
"You owe me one," I scowled.
"Thank you!" Rach said, and she and Maria took off in the opposite direction.
"Okay, think. If anyone would come here... where should I hide?" I said aloud to myself. After doing some thinking and calculating the possibilities of someone finding me, I decided to stay low, since no one would search for me there.
I hid behind a tree, covering myself in bushes of berries, which was a bonus, because no one could smell my scent now.
After a few minutes of pondering, and hiding, I decided to get out of the hiding spot, slowly creeping away, until -
"You really shouldn't have moved," Chris's deep voice whispered in my ear. I jumped a little, and I turned around. "Ahaha... ha.... C - Chris! H - how did you find me...?" I asked, laughing nervously.
"Your scent. I can smell you from afar," Chris said, walking around me in a circle like stalking a prey. "But I covered my scent in berries!" I protested.
"My dear, I can smell you no matter how far you are. That's why I can always track you down no matter how hard you try to scent yourself," Chris smiled, and grabbed me by the waist.
